Sorry, the engine code is B234F.

I wish I had a head gasket to compare to, and then something creative might have to happen for cooking purposes.

A Volvo B123 head fits a Pinto engine almost perfectly. I haven't seen anything with cooling passages and bolt spacing suited for our engines.

As I recall, the Volvo head was courageously modified... Like whacking off the end of the head and welding on a fabbed piece to suit the toofah block.

Hey, I have access to a 92 volvo 244 with an inline/slant 4 that I think is that "red block" engine.. The same car I got my ABS 4 pot front calipers off of..

If you could help me positivly identify the head as the one you want I'm pretty sure I could get the head off of it for a song..

Let me know how to make sure it's the right one, and how cheap is cheap..

I bet I can get the head $50 if not $30 or free..

There is also another volvo there that is later mid 90's iirc.. Didn't look at it too close..

Check this out

http://www.ford-wiki.com/wiki/Volvo_Redblock_Engine

I will front the money for this head, if you get it that cheap (and of course the shipping$$). Just to get the answers we need. The above pictures are of a B234 as far as I trust the ebay source. This redblock setup you have access to might be different? But if its 16v, like I said, for that price I will buy that 'answer'

Check this out...love how nobody can nail down if it was cosworth or porsche when comparing the two links

Hmm, fellow Swedish 924 enthusiast gegge should have thought of this, i hope he reads here and will dive in to the discussion. Otherwise ill ask him

If it fits ill fill up a container and ship it over, they are plentiful here in Sweden, lots of speed parts aswell. The Volvo red block is the Swedish version of the small block v8

Swedish V8 I did get that impression We might have to do that

...gegge and I have been going back and forth on PM over a two valve version not the 16V. Would be cool if he entered the fray here

The 16v came with the 740 and then 940. These engines are very common in rally cross, drag racing, street cars, track racing etc, so ere is so much knowledge around these engines..

Close to finishing this up. Needed to prep a base plate and some uprights on a surface grinder to have them all equal in length. The oil feed hole in the mount will be "thread milled" so I can control the tread fit precisely. Tapping almost always is loose unless you use special taps. Then I can test fit the mount

Project idea: redesign of the rear water flange to increase flow through the cylinder head...

Update on the mount: Needs to be deburred/cleaned up and could be polished if desired. The code needs to be adjusted to get rid of faceting to smooth out the profile but its done for testing. The oil feed fitting screws in real nice. Might post a pic/vid of that process

A finished mount weighs in at less than 400g while a stock iron is at 1157g
