|
|
After taking careful looks both GT headlight builds (Macdog & Porschev).
I choose to go with something like porschevs headlight cover. Heres some pics of my start.
The holes.
The cut. (Needs more filing.)
The material. (might be to thin).
(Still needs more filing) Im thinking of maybe putting the plexi underneath
the frame I made & also of sectioning the frame to fit the hole tight.

I dont know if I like the cutout. I jumped right in with out planning.
So I have one more set of covers. Its the corners mostly .. should follow the shape of the cover more there in the front ... I can fix these. Save the other set for now. If it looks good enough I might use these on the outside. Paint them the same color as the turn/driving lights ...monteray grey.

Naa I picked up a carbide cutting tio for the dremel. I like this its gonna be pretty cool. I am going to section it to fit the hole tight. Im thinking of putting it on the outside. I also made a tool to follow the outside contour using a marker at what ever distance I choose to get a exact outline. I used a fine tip marker followed by a fat one.

I sectioned it 1/4 of an inch leaving a good 1/16" clearance all around.
(I used 4 pieces of balsa sheeting as spacers to get the 1/4". Im going to build the light box off the cover, the cover by the way will; be on top of the plexi. I think that will be cool.

I have the other side almost caught up. See that wide strip along the top, Well I was gonna weld the seam and fill it or remove it, what do think would look better. Might look a whole hell of alot better gone. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

So it goes not slow but with a sence of urgency.

Joe,
are you mounting the lenses above or below the metal trim? Just wondering if you offset the bucket mounting to compensate for this as it looks pretty flush with the panels atm...

Stu under the trim compensation is picked up by removing trim amd cutting off a few mm along top of bucket.
