Hi everyone!
My name is Bart and I am mechanic and owner of Btracing shop in Evanston IL.
I just picked up 1979 931 in central Wisconsin.I would like to build it as a GTR replica less engine of course:)
My car is 11/1979 production date 931 with rare limited slip snail shell transmission and M471 sport package with 5 lug wheels.I am planning to do full aluminium suspenssion swap(have parts already) and 951 brakes.I think I will track this car few times before full build will start late this year.I just sold my Datsun 510 vintage race car and already have an itch to go back racing:)

So I spent some quality time today with my new project.I blow all of the leaves and debris from engine compartment, checked fuel pumps, changed oil and oil filter, installed new fuel filter and air filter, replaced some fuel lines by pumps and this little bugger started right up!
I am pretty happy,at least I know that motor sounds good runs smooth and after driving it around the block-car feels pretty good!
Maybe I am weird but I like it more then my old 951...Just feels so much lighter:) It is first time ever I drove 931 and this little car is faster then I expected:)

So I had few hours date with my 931 today.Car had intermittent no crank issue. After cleaning all of the grounds I started digging under the dashboard.I found two aftermarket alarms! Most of the connectors were scotch lock and twisted wires.Nothing was soldered. After removing all this aftermarket mess car starts each time no problem:)

Rasta Monsta I do have already new timing belt parts. That would be next step as a preventative maintenance:)
I also ordered new shifter bushings and short shifter from Ideola.
I have S2 intake manifold, throttle body and charge pipe. This would be first small upgrade along with replacing all of the cooling and vacuum hoses.

No pictures but some work is done:
-944 coolant reservoir installed
-951 front cut with intercooler is on the way to my shop
-got my short shifter and bushings from Ideola
-got new VDO boost gauge that would fit perfectly in place of AC switch
Too busy at work to do anything with the car now but hopefully I can start intercooler install soon:)

Finally got my Le Mans conversion headlights from Deutche9,good quality,I am happy with it.
I did scrapped all of the sound insulation from the floors and cut out rusted out seat brackets.Got new ones from the donor car.
Not much done but winter is here in Chicago so I will have more time to work on it now.Hopefully I would put it on the track next spring.

Easier to graft on that whole piece.
