Sorry all that did not post this a while back, been kinda lazy and really worn out from work.
The old girl took the overall class win for ITB at Carolina Motorsports park back in March at the Buck Muse classic. I only have the Saturday race recorded because for some reason my gen 3 GoPro coded the race on Sunday wrong, but....I won outright on Saturday and took second on Sunday.

The little Spec Ford Racer that hit me going into turn one forgot that brakes are not really up to temp that early in a race and just could not stop....he was sincere about it (all damage has been fixed) but did lose his points for that race for an avoidable incident.
Hoping Hayes and I can take a one / two this weekend at VIR.
Cheers. _________________ Ian Edgerly

why does your shifter lean to the right so far when you take a left hander like that?
just curious.. nice video, I love actually being able to hear the engines and not just noise.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

I used RTV to stiffen up the trans mounts so it is not them and the motor mounts are in good shape.....there is play between the dowel that comes off of the the shift lever and the tube on the shift rod going back to the transmission. Goes in gear perfect every time so I have not played with it.

Excellent video! Thanks for sharing. Looks like you had a great time and had some good races.
As for the shifter, its a common failure mode on those, luckily they are the same pieces used on the 944's (which also fails in the same manner). On my 951S, I cut the dowel off, replaced it with a 10mm bolt and nut. I then used a pair of 10mm thrust bearings to take the side to loads off the bolt and improving the feel. Works pretty good and its a cheap and easy fix to do. The bearings cost all of $10/ea. on Amazon.
I eventually built my own lever to use my own weighted, shift knob, but you can simply buy a drop in replacement lever, that shortens throws slightly, with those same thrust bearings from Only944.com for $55.
Only 944's shift lever:

That is a nifty little kit, nice work.
I wish they'd work on a replacement for the block of nylon at the rear, that also wears and allows play... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Which block of nylon is that? I'm not familiar with any blocks of nylon in the shift linkage. They do have a short shift linkage kit as well as the stabilizer rod, which are very well made parts that improve the feel quite a bit. _________________ Stefan

There's a piece at the back on the trans... maybe I just remember that it would probably be easily replaced with a piece of delrin... don't have a pic to show though... _________________ Vaughan Scott

The short shift kit replaces that part with a Rose/Heim joint.
The shift arm replaces the rubber washers and bent steel arm. _________________ Stefan

Agreed re: the shift kit; unfortunately, for our ITB cars that isn't legal. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Forgot that IT rules are kinda stupid sometimes. It has two settings, stock and modified throw, if that helps at all. _________________ Stefan
