Apparently they break. A lot. At least with Hoosiers...
http://www.kenrosephotography.com/galleries/waterford-club-race-5---sunday-98/ui/150035010352303f9d2a202
Scroll through the subsequent photos and you'll see the outer part of the 8-spoke 4-lug rim that was on the LF of the #47 Mustang, came apart under cornering loads. Not the first one they've broken, but the most spectacular...
PS - scroll back 10 pics or so and you'll see Merritt (driving the #77) working over her friend Kimi in the #47... Merritt had a great weekend, coming away with one 3rd place and 2 2nds! _________________ Vaughan Scott

Ya picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel!
Super-secret evil plan: The toofah guys give the mustang guys all their old tarantula wheels. Then we challenge them to a race. The wheels break on the mustang thereby allowing the toofah to win. Muuwwwwwhahahah, um, ahem.
Never saw anyone race on those wheels. Now I know why. Plus they're pretty old by now. Not sure I'd want to use them either. Better spread the word. |

Yeah, pretty spectacular failure, and 3 corners earlier she'd've been going a LOT faster. 75mph vs. 55. Either way, apparently the car's a write-off (the Mustang, that is).
Sad to see a former championship-winning car put down like that... but at least it was on-track fighting for the podium!
As for beating the Rustangs... well, we don't need even that kind of advantage to beat 'em! _________________ Vaughan Scott

We have one set of those and one set of Talledega wheels on our Toofah.
I guess that the good news for us at least is that we are running Falken Azeni's, not Hoosiers.
I will take a good look at them before our upcoming race - thanks for the heads up! _________________ 1987 924S SPEC car

Sure, and be sure to check both inside and out for cracks. Good time to scrub 'em clean, the better to see...
They just don't seem to be up to the loads, at least not those of Hoosiers... _________________ Vaughan Scott
