|
|
My timing has been overhanging the cam gear by about a 1/10th of an inch (2.5mm for my metric friends) for quite a while. Well my belt tensioner has been making some noise so I decided to replace it and after putting the new one on, the belt still overhangs the cam gear. So off to the Auto parts store for a new timing belt thinking the old one might have worn more to one side, replaced the belt and same story except that now it squeaks because the edge of the belt is pushing on the forward lip of the tensioner pulley. Not sure what to do next, any ideas? _________________ 1980 924 N.A. Monaco Blue owned since 1987

its squeaking because the belt is too tight. are you sure the cam gear is on the right way? there is a front and a back. _________________ Riley

check the tensioner is sitting properly on the block.
A new tensioner I tried recently had the bolt hole not drilled through straight.
it sat on the block at an angle. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA
