Hey guys, how's it going? My name is Cale and I have an '83 944 in the process of getting an lt1 swap. I'm usually on PP or rennlist but I figured you guys would know more about this bar I found. While looking up sway bars for the 944 (my car has a 25.5 tubular upfront and a 20mm out back from a m030'd 944S- the rear was an option even for m030) I noticed the 924 bars...I remember seeing the 23mm front bar only came on the '79 car as an option and later 931 for a year I believe. Well I was browsing the local pick n pull and found a '79 924 and low and behold, it had this 23mm front sway. So I pulled it figuring someone would want it, somewhere. Plus it will help me make a few extra bucks for more 944 things Anyways...what's this bar worth? What should I ask for it? I got all the hardware for it...plates and droplinks. Thanks!
On the right is the 23mm 924 bar
Middle is an optional bar that came in the sport package for '83 944- 21.5mm
left is an optioned 14mm rear bar for the 944

Not much, apparently. I have four of 'em in my used parts bin that I've had listed for $15 each, and they never sold in over two years.
That bar came on the 79 924, and also on the Turbos that had the M471 suspension option. Bundled with the 14mm rear sway, it's a nice upgrade for early cars that had no sway bar or one of the smaller varieties. You can't really use it on the later cars because they lack the proper mounting points on the underside of the frame spars. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Hey thanks for the reply! It seems like it would be a worthwhile upgrade to any 924, I don't know why more people wouldn't be on them. I upgraded the sways on my 944 and love the difference it made.
Also, are the rear bars interchangeable with the 944 and vise versa? _________________ ..and those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music... |
