Hello all. Does anyone know how to remove the heater blower motor and plastic cover under the hood? I have loosened the 10mm bolt holding down the plastic cover, and its loose, but I dont want to damage the cover. Also, is there anyone that sells a replacement blower motor? I dont have any heat/defroster. _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 DP Replica (in process)

the heater blower unit is removed from under the dash and not from the top.
you need to remove the dash prior to do this as there is a metal clamp keeping is attached to it's position on the metal frame. _________________ 1979 924 NA |

Hmmm. Thats what I was afraid of. Oh well, I will just go for it I guess.
Anyone know where I can get a replacement fan motor for a 1977 924? I have seen a few of them, but none match what I have. My car also has a large opening next to the battery for the A/C. Its not like anything I have seen on any other 924's. Will the 944 setup work on my car? _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 DP Replica (in process)

There is an ugly way, you can cut it out from the top. I did it on mine since i didnt want to riun anything under the dash, and you cant see it when everything is mounted. The remount is done via some sheet metal and very good fastening glue. I think there is a how to around here somewhere. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

I've been slowly removing the A/C stuff from my car whenever it's in the way or causes a leak in the cabin. I welded that gigantic hole you speak of closed.
Now that you mention it, I recall removing that cover to be quite a struggle; the A/C version much more so than the standard squirrel cage model. It was so long ago I don't recall any specific advice.
You're probably supposed to remove the heater blower assembly from below prior to removing the cover. _________________ 78 924 NA
