With stock turbo (k26-6) the cam is'nt verry good.... boost arrive between 3500/4000 tr/min... it increase MEP (manifold exhauts pressure)
But it can help with a big track setup. Now I wish I has stook cam for more driveabilty on street. Maybe i have also exhaust leeks that cause this spool ... if you have more infos on 9R cam effect on stock engine you're welcome !

Hmm, that sounds odd. I'm no expert when it comes to turbos, but I would think that since there's no overlap, it shouldn't hurt performance.

I would defiantly check for some boost/exhaust leaks. Even if you were losing some performance with the cam, I don't think it would cause the boost to come in that late... but I could be wrong.

I used stock fuel lines.

This is my first instalation, then I add an adjustable fuel regulator and a fuel pressure gauge in serial with the stock one.

Thanks for the pics. I was hoping there was an easier solution, but I don't think I like those lines that close to the exhaust. I'll also be using the brake booster heat shield, so I'd have to modify the stock lines anyway. I'll probably just run some new lines up the other side.

I haven't ordered it yet, but I'll be using an aftermarket intercooler that will sit in front of the radiator.

Something similar to this:

Yeah, I don't suppose I've set the bar very high.

Oh, it's set at the right place, seems everywhere I go some guy in a Mustang wants to race.

That's one reason I decided against a V8 swap. There's just nothing like beating a cocky guy in a V8 with a 25 year old four-banger.

This weekend, I began removing the fuel lines so that I could re-route them.

The diagram below is not exact, but should give you some idea...

I thought this was the best place for the lines. This way I can just cut the rubber lines off and order late 944 replacements.

I'll post some more pics up when I've finished mounting them and hook them up.

What? Why? That hotside fuel line setup has burned up a lot of 944s.

I was thinking the same thing. Unless there is an issue with the fuel lines occupying room where they currently run on the 924S, I can't imagine that it would be necessary to change the lines.

Guys, it was a difficult decision to make. The 924S lines are right up against the exhaust. You may decide to keep the stock lines when you do this project, however that wasn't going to work for me.

I have to put a thermal protection between exhaust pipe and fuel lines.
But at this place exhaust is not as warm as the engine header.

Thanks for the pictures Fifai. I didn't take any before removing the lines.

I got the flu a few weeks ago and I've not felt like doing anything since.

I did move the hole where the fuel lines enter the engine compartment. While I don't like the "hotside" setup, it's about the only way you can run the lines without them being up against the exhaust.

When installed the rubber lines will be about 7 inches away from the headers. I can't imagine there is enough heat there to cause any problems, especially if you use a heat sleeve. The 924S lines are much closer to the down-pipe.

Just make sure and use the heat sleeve.

Will do, Joe. I'm going to take every precaution that I can to make sure it's done well; and is safe.

I've been really busy and was out of town much of the past month. I had hoped that I'd be much further along. I'm now getting to the part where I'm putting all the plastic/rubber stuff back on the engine. Most of it needs to be replaced, and that's mostly what's slowing me down now.

Since this car was my daily driver before I started this project, I thought this would be a good time to fix things that have been bugging me.

I decided to take the time and rewire the interior. It was in good shape for the most part, but needed to be tidied up. Years ago, I installed LED gauge lights. They worked great, but created a huge nest of wires. So, I decided to try it again. This time, instead of each wiring having its own resistor, I made a box that housed the resistors (hanging from the steering column). This not only cuts down on the clutter, it helps keep the resistors safe from bending/breaking, and doesn't require me to remove the gauges, should there be a problem.

Moving back to the engine... I made sure to take pictures of the heat shielding. Below are the oil filler and upper heat shields. The empty bolt hole is where the down pipe mounts.

This is the heat shield located just below the headers.

I received some replacement lifters Wednesday, and was finally able to install the cam tower.

Yesterday, I finished installing the turbo.

I still have a long way to go before I'm finished, but it's slowly getting there!

Yep! I figure, I can always upgrade later.

I'm hoping to have it finished by the first of the year. I still have a huge parts list
