Jason, is this for that block you got from me? If so, and you do this, I'd be interested in the rods and pistons from this block. dave. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Indeed, the rods are probably good, but the top of those pistons look pretty beat up... I don't know what is acceptable and what isn't.
Otherwise I always have the engine that is in the car that could be broken down after the build. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

I just checked out my local machine shop and they are very reasonable to offset grind the crank.
I believe I've got the correct (longer) rods picked out and am trying to find a piston that gives me somewhere in the 8.6:1 to 9.1:1 CR. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Dan, whose ignition controller are you going to use for the EDIS ignition? _________________ Mike

Since this motor will never be EFI'd (due to the carbs), I am planning to use MegaJolt to debug the sensor mount, sensor position, EDIS tuning, and spark map tuning. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

My love of the 931 is on life support and just barely hanging on. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Looks really good. I don't see a crank position sensor. Is it not fitted yet? _________________ 1981 924 N/A (Now the parts car)

No, haven't had opportunity to mock up the bracket yet. I have the sensor, I have the trigger wheel and spacers fitted, just haven't done the bracket and pickup yet. So as not to introduce too many variables at once, I'm going to get the carb setup running reliably using the stock (conservative) ignition setup, and then swap in the programmable stuff later. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I'd love to know the part numbers of the pistons and rods used in this build. It would make it so much easier to find a local who might stock the parts. If not could you let us know the make and model of the cars these were for.
Figuring this stuff out is not that easy over this side of the world!
i hate to think what it was like in the non internet days! |
