Yes, there are bushings (and other parts) to replace for both styles.
If you have the Porsche box (dogleg first gear) then the bushings are likely the primary issue, specifically the bushings under the car above and in front of the transaxle. There are bushings at the shifter as well that should be replaced. I think they are similar to Porsche 924 bits. Otherwise the screw that holds the linkage to the front of the transaxle might have worked loose.
If you have the Audi box (non-dogleg first) then the shift lever might be worn out, the linkage may have come loose in the rear or you could have bad bushings. This is a common problem with the 944 and 924S, so lots of solutions are documented online as well as parts available to purchase.
Hope this helps. _________________ Stefan

Ye this does help, are they hard to replace?? Or just to get to cause there isn't much room to get your hands above the transaxle? Also it's an 82 model with the 5 speed manual box _________________ Vass... |

Look under it right away and find the conical bolt that connects the shift rod to the gear selector shaft entering the gearbox. It should be tight and safety wired. _________________ Toofah King Bad
