Hi
I have been changing the turbo on my 1981 S2
Whilst under the car I noticed that the steering linkage from the rack (rhd) is very, very close to the oil cooler bolts on the oil filter housing, if I jack up the engine it pulls it away to a safer distance. Does this suggest the turbo side engine mount is dead ? |

since buying the car i have noticed a vibration at tickover which i assumed was the rubber engine mounts. On closer inspection today i found the n/s mount only had 1 bolt to the block, when i touched the bolt head it turned in my fingers. I supported the engine with a jack and pulled out the bolt which had sheared off!
I have just finished removing the inlet manifold (so i could get access to remove the broken stud), with the engine mount off i could see the remains of the other 2 broken studs - so no studs holding the mount to the block, no wonder it vibrated ! |

My driver's side mount did the same, although I was told by a garage that it had gone, I didn't inspect it myself beforehand. When the mount was out it was easy to see it had collapsed.
The OEM mounts are very rare, but I might have a spare Vibra-Technics mount if you want to buy it. My 924 GT vibrated at tickover (I sold it a couple of months ago), and I never did pin down the problem.

Hi
not sure yet if i need a mount. I have extracted the broken studs, replaced them with new and refitted the inlet manifold. Hopefully I will get the car started in the next few days and see if the vibration is sorted. |
