The Monza bell housing should work as long as you use a diaphragm type pressure plate. You will need to use the Monza clutch cable as well and figure out how to connect it on top.

I used this set-up on the turbo v6 924 I built in the early 80's. These parts are becoming very difficult to find now although the cable is still available on RockAuto. I sold one of these with a new cable a couple of years ago. The down side to this is you are limited to a 10.5" raised diaphragm clutch.

I am using a 10.5" clutch so that is no problem. I read somewhere that it will hold up to 500hp and I don't expect to see more than 400 anyway without removing the engine.

Now I just need to locate a v8 monza.

v8carerragts, what is your opinion on solid motor mounts for this application? It it worth incorporating rubber to soften the shock of the v8?

I would only use solid motor mounts on a dedicated drag car. The vibrations would drive you crazy on the street.

Wiring harness after 4 hours of work. I have modified it to stand alone from the rest of the cars electrical system. All of the engine management wiring is sorted, and the only remaining task it to establish length, fitment and rewrap. A 5 fuse fuseblock will also be added along with a fuel pump relay and maybe a cooling fan relay.

Below is everything that came out. I removed more weight in wires than I kept. I have been impressed with the chevy PCM connector plugs and how easy to de-pin they are. It is almost like they were made with the mechanic in mind.

The bellhousing is on its way! You may be surprised what it is.

Something else to add; the slave for this setup is an in stock item at the local autozone for under 20 bucks.

Some more on the wiring harness. I have opted to keep the EGR and some other emissions items, but I am deleting the smog pump. The below photo shows the Computer end of the wiring harness. Not for the faint of wiring.

This photo shows the wires to power. They power the ECM, fuel, injectors and emissions and will be fed through a very small fuse block.

Rough layout of harness on engine. It will be made pretty later when the engine is in the car.

A better look at some of the crap I pulled out, fuse box, chassis wiring and plugs, transmission wiring, ac, to name a few...

New fuse box is pretty simple.

Wires kept and coiled in bundles for later use are:
Check engine light
Vehicle speed sensor
Speed output signal
Cooling fan relay
Fuel pump relay
VATS vehicle anti theft (fuel enable signal to attach to a VATS module or later delete if PCM is flashed.)

Interested in your wiring project. Did you try to get different wire colors for everything?

Color coding is loose, generally pink and orange are power supply, black ground etc. Many repeat colors.

Bellhousing arrived today. i have already begun on the adapter plate and plan to start pulling the engine sunday.

This is the bellhousing I chose. I chose it for several reasons.

1. It uses an external slave that is easily changed.
2. The angle of the throwout arm is low so it is unlikely to cause fitment problems.
3. The throwout is on the passenger side so if in the unlikely event I have to modify the firewall or floor pan any it will not interfere with pedal operation.
4.It was reasonably priced. The monza bellhousing sellers think they can get 200 up for their bellhousings. Thats fine but they wont get it from me.
5. No modification is necessary to adapt a different slave cylinder to this bellhousing. I can use the one that was designed for it which is commonly available new for 20 dollars.

The size comparison between the 2.5 and the 5.7 is surprising.
