Quick question because I could not find anything using search
I changed the external fuel pump & filter and cleaned the tank out last March. I have noticed now that I have started to use the car again that if I leave it idling from cold for say 20 minutes the fuel pump is completely silent. If I take the car out for a spin say half an hour, when I leave it idling afterwards I can hear the pump buzzing.
I know the pump is outside the tank so some noise is inevitable I think, but what is normal? does the buzzing mean that the pump has overheated for some reason?
because the buzzing appears whilst driving the car, I am afraid to take it on longer runs, in case the pump packs up and leaves me stranded.
Thanks for the help

My fuel pump does buzz a bit if you put your ear near to the rear wheel arch.
Check your fuel accumulator is working properly - this dampens the fuel pressure and if it's not working 100% it can make your pump noisy. _________________ 1979 UK 932 |
