|
|
Hi again!
Now I'm having problems with my left headlight and I'm hoping that you guys and girls can help me.
The problem is that the high beam on the left headlight is'nt working. The low beam works though. The low beam and high beam works on the rest of the lights.
I've checked the connections to the lamps, no corrosion. I've checked the relay, I can feel and hear the click. Also, the relay was only there to prevent the electricity from dropping when the headligh turns on. I've tried the lamp in another car and it works just fine.
What could I've missed?
Thanks in advance! _________________ 924 -81 "The Frogmobile"

is there power at the light fitting?
probably a broken wire.
Fuses 1,2,3,4 do the headlights. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Hi Ozzie
I thought that there was power at the light fitting because the lamp lit up at the low beam. Do you think that there is a separate cable for the high beam?... Nah, it couldn't be because there is only tree wires; brown (earth), Yellow (minus?) and white (plus?).
I've checked the fuses a couple of times. They are whole and I can't seem to find too much corrosion. Perhaps I'm not looking hard enought.^^
...It's all still a mystery too me. :S _________________ 924 -81 "The Frogmobile"

I checked the white cable but it seems that it doesn't have any power. Tried the yellow cable connected to the white one that leads to the light and then I got a high beam on the left and a low beam on the right. I think that the cupling at he back of the the fusebox might be corroded. It's like snakepit in there though.
Just have to gather myself to deal with it. _________________ 924 -81 "The Frogmobile"

sometimes just cleaning the fuses and the holders works. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

I've done that a couple of times already. It has helped a bit with other electrical functions but not this one unfortunately. _________________ 924 -81 "The Frogmobile"

I had trouble with my LH headlight not working.
Checked everything.
I used the wiring to the RH headlight to control relays to both headlights and fitted 100/60 bulbs.
1. old wiring draws SFA current.
2. new wiring to both headlights
3. brighter bulbs/ better visibility. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

I have just been through the dramas of getting all my lights to work on my Australian 924 which would be the same as your Euro model.
I have thread titled "pop-up headlight operation".
If you have 12V at "fuse #3" (LHS High Beam Fuse) I would have a look at the pin connection at "A18".
Disconnect the first large plug into the back of fuse box, i think its white, find pin 18 and give both sides a good clean. (clean them all whilst your in there).
Disconnect your battery first of course!
Hopefully this fixes your problem.
Cheers,

Thanks a bunch!
I took a look behind the fuses before I made my last post and tried to clean some connections. I used a flat headed screwdriver to clean them but I though that turning the key off in the ignition would be enough to not give me any unplesant suprises.
I was wrong.
Well, I'm not totally useless, I can be made as a bad example. _________________ 924 -81 "The Frogmobile"

similar problem to this on mine, difference is, my left low beam comes on only with a dim yellow glow, the right side comes on normally. When I put the high beam on, the right side comes on, the left side stays with the dim yellow glow.
I don't know if it is related, but when the pods are down and I flash from the indicator switch, the LED comes on but the bumper driving lights do not flash.
I dismantled everything light related on the front of the car yesterday, cleaned what was already clean, checked the grounds, couldn't find any broken wires, result NOTHING
Any ideas?

Sounds like a bad ground.
Run a meter between the chassis and the negative terminal on your light bulb, and turn on your light. A voltage reading of more than a volt or so indicates a bad ground somewhere between where the meters probes are, and hence your problem.
The wires could be failing where they bend when the light goes up and down for all you know. _________________ 78 924 NA

Did you get it sorted or just deeper into more trouble
I am glad you don't do work with high voltage!!! _________________ 1978 924 RoW 5-Speed (Current Project)
