About a year ago I started a bumper project from a 944 bumper that I had been itching to do for some time. The begenning of which started life in this thread http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=32282

The project got put off between fixing up 6 or so 944s this last year and went unpainted. I found the time to do some painting this last week and finished this one.

The mod is very simple and centers around cutting the stock bumper found on a 924 or 944 to make the grille area larger.

I used aluminum stretch metal from a metal shop for my grill.

I have modified the air deflector to reach to the top of my grille opening thus making use of the bigger opening to force more air to the radiator. When I have the bumper off again I will post some pics of the air deflector.

^OK, that is funny.

Would look better black, I think. And a different material. . .you're blocking too much of the hole.

These pictures are from another thread, but I thought they should be here as well as they show the purpose of this mod.

I removed the sheet metal blocking the radiator. I was going to do this a long time ago when I opened up the bumper but had many irons in the fire at the time. The main point is to get better air flow, but there will be an oil cooler going in there soon, and maybe an intercooler in the far future...

For structural support I welded in a tubular brace between the frame rails.

I kept the tow loop as it has been handy in the past.

My old high flow bumper in place.

And squirrel fence...

This setup is currently cooling a v8 engine, and the speed at which the temp drops when the cooling fans kick on is quicker and the cooling at speed more responsive.
