More fuel for the fire. Fuel dizzy refurbished and modified to flow 30% more fuel at full load......lets hope it releases a few more horses post lockdown dyno ....

Getting cleaned a lot during lockdown.....

Hi Steve

I have been reading over and over through this thread and the WUR RPM trigger activation thread

It doesn't look like you modified the WUR at all but instead just applied your Zeitronix trick with the ZAVT trigger?

I am convinced your route is what I need to do with the CS, once I get to that point. Need to update that thread. There is a lot going on there

Zeitronix gives you control via the ZAVT, not just logging like Innovate. Your choice seems so obvious in the end.

Thanks
Mike

The zeitronix is a nice bit of kit, at a price though, way better quality than the crappy innovate stuff (I have a LM2 myself).

Try the simple fix first, I unhooked the boost line to the WUR and got rid of the over richening (which i got after I installed larger turbo and IC)and got a fairly flat AFR curve that was more or less as I wanted. This might not work for other IC-Turbo-Cam etc combinations, but for the cost of 0$ its worth a shot . But a wide band AFR is needed regardless, so might be worth opening up the wallet anyway

I saw that too and will do that first. Probably should move this out of this thread to the CS and Finally '82 Rolls threads. Just wanted to figure things out exactly regarding the WUR mods

Funny Cedric. I have been mulling over my options for next Tuesdays dyno and had these questions for you. Obviously you blocked off the disconnected WUR control line. But did you do anything to the WUR barb or left it open to atmosphere? How flat was the AFR through the Rev range? Not sure how this would work for me as I’m using up all the boost enriched fuel already

Mike, first off I had a 10yr old WUR. This was with the old turbo and gave good AFR’s both in the mid and high rpm/boost range. Then I swapped out to a recalibrated WUR with bottom adjustability of control pressures. This came from Morghen along with his bigger turbo. Currently I have a freshly refurbed WUR again with bottom control pressure adjustment. Has worked well and was used at the last dyno a few weeks ago. Didn’t notice at the time but the Pierburg switch had failed. So we got mid AFR set right but was too lean at the top end. Now it’s fixed, I have richened up the fuel and back on the dyno next week to check

Thank you! I actually ordered two Pierburg valves and connectors. I already have an Innovate Boost controller/AFR for the '82. If needing to go this route, my hope is to hack the shiftlight function to control a relay for the valve. Since they don't have any direct trigger option it drove me straight to your solution. Its seems you had a similar path away from Innovate after reading through your previous posts.

Of course if my Innovate idea works, it will be kind of cool since there will be built in AFR level protection...but I don't like the fact I have to hack to get there. (edit: this is only the '82 since I already have the Innovate SCG-1. The CS will get a solution from scratch. Plan is open for the moment)

Your solution offers a lot and in the end the data doesn't lie. The proof is in your results

The hose just hangs there open to the atmosphere. Im about afr 11 in most of the range and about 11.7 ish at the top end if o remember correctly, or maybe a tenth or two closer to 12. So pretty nice. But you have the cam aswell, which alters the volumetric efficency and air consumption at high revs which don't make it easier to have a flat afr curve with the cis.

Can you run without filter and measure how much travel of the air plate you use on full power when you are on the dyno? Can be tricky if the dyno isn't loaded and controllable though. Would be interesting to know how much travel is left in there.

Will try and run filterless. Its easy and quick to remove and check. Will see if we can get a dial gauge on the flap.
