I hate to be the one to point this out, but that is not a MikeDanger Approved© engine bay.

Experimenting with yellow / euro look driving lights. Now to decide whether the headlights get the same treatment. I'm not so sure as the white headlights compliment the white upper body. The yellow driving lights blend in with the red lower half and indicators.

IMHO, yellow "Fogs" and white headlights is the way to go. You have a way with this car and I like it.

Green tartan interior, you don't see that on a Civic.

Spring is in the air ...... time for an update

Went all Eurostyle over Winter. Yellow driving lamp lenses with yellow caps on the headlamp bulbs. Looks white off, yellow when on

Komfort edition interior now staying for a while. Getting lots of family outings in it whatever the weather

Drove it all Winter, rain or shine

Birds/fish-eye view

A six and a half year journey.............

Survived the year since the new rebuilt head went back on with MLS HG. With additional datalogging to keep an eye on things, all is well with the motor. Free flowing 3'' off the turbo tapering to 2.5'' SS exhaust with minor muffling keeps it sounding mean. With 1.0bar + boost, the stock recirculating valve likes to whoosh the boost pressure off when coming off the gas. I like it, some won't.

(yes, a det warning on this drive as it wasn't drinking its usual 99RoN+ octane boosting fuel.)

Remind me again, what are you doing for knock sensing? And where did you install the sensor?

Phormula KS4. Sensor is on the spare lug near #3. A touch low for ideal position but the KS4 is quite sensitive and alerts well before you hear anything in the det cans. I'd rather have too many early warnings than none at all. I'm not 100% certain that some warnings are anything to worry about having had the Phormula Pro with det cans on for quite some miles and not heard a thing when spanking it hard. I can easily induce det under certain conditions so I know when it is versus when not.

I'm using that boss with a Knocksense, and it flashes constantly under hard accel. This is on the Club Sport. 8:1 CR with 8psi boost, so fairly confident it's not detonating, but I haven't figured out how to tell if they're false positives or not.

Nothing worse than the fear of det events when they are not actually happening. The beauty of the KS4 is I can plug in the Pro unit with det cans and listen to exactly what is being picked up by the KS4 and adjust its sensitivity accordingly. As you know these engines are noisy and give the sensors false alarms. You'll only know if the knocksense is giving real or false alarms by turning down boost and a little ignition retard and run it with det cans on. Then again with more boost and ignition so you start to induce det and can hear it in the headset and then set the engine parameters to just below these knock levels. No idea if your knocksense is adjustable like the KS4 sensitivity is. I have mine set very close to det so I do get the occasional det events. I manage it with fuel, two ignition maps and adj boost plus the right foot. It's worked for me so far but will be dynoing the car again at the end of the month and plan on more tuning thereafter.

Nice update to the thread, great that you had time to enjoy the car without trouble. The b roads you have are so narrow!

I have an xs knocklite atm, you calibrate it to learn the noise levels without load. After that I haven't touched the setup since it works really well. It flickers far before you hear detonations, but since I got the car running correctly I rarely see it at all.

I bought a js safeguard 2nd hand, but haven't had the time to install it, housing projects take time, and kids

Was chatting to someone about J&S the other day. Sounds like a great system. It could potentially switch my Mittelmotor dizzy into safe map mode and pulling the the timing a degree or two. Something I have considered for the current Phormula but not gotten round to trying to wire it up. The conversation also went on to electronic boost controllers versus manual. Again the J&S could pull boost. With all this electrickery we are then getting into the realms of full ECU upgrades which isn't supposed to be on the table with my car.
