Simply stated, what is the difference between an early 924 NA, 924 Turbo and 924S/944 Bellhousing?

924 and 931 units bolt up to 2.0 block. 931 unit is designed for hydraulic clutch. Both have stoopid number and variety of bolts!

2.5 unit bolts up to 2.5 block with four tidy bolts, accomodates identical clutch actuation parts as 931 unit (slave cyl, clutch fork, shaft, guide tube).

I'm sure there's more. . .

I believe that 931 belhousing bolts on to the 2,5/3,0 944 engines.

Obviously you'll need to use the flywheel and clutch from the newer engine

Wrong. The engine's are completely different and the 931/924 blocks are the same (shares bellhousing pattern with the Audi 5-cylinder motors).

The bellhousings can all be bolted to any of the torque tubes available as they share the same 4-bolt pattern.

How new of Audi 5 cylinder engines match the pattern?
