Which control boxes work well with these cars ?
Looking to add one while I do cap, rotor, coil, plugs, and wires.
(rev limiting and slightly easier starting)
This one comes with its own coil.

I know some people use msd, which I will probably go with... _________________ 81 924 N/A

Might be worth doing some reading here:

I'd advocate a solution using MegaSquirt and adding knock control, launch control, flat shift, etc via the Extra code. As a bonus, you can now tune the CIS a bit using the Oxygen sensor. You can also move to EFI, Supercharging or Turbocharging more easily down the road as well.
The aftermarket control boxes don't really help that much as your hard start is not likely due to ignition, but the CIS system (which you've discussed in another thread)
MSD only applies multiple spark at low RPM (idle basically) and Crane, Jacobs, etc are similar as the charge time for a single coil at high RPM is too short to do much more than try to produce a single spark for each combustion event. They can provide the ability to alter the timing curve to some extent, but without a way to monitor the engine, you're just guessing at what the curve should be.
Multiple coil solutions reduce some of the issues that single coil solutions have, which can show some improvement, but the real gain is in the ability to tune the timing curve more precisely to maximize the power "under the curve"
Here's some info on MegaSquirt:

never gave mega squirt much thought really. Ill do that. Yes the hot start issue is CIS related just curious as to if the box helped that much. The Pertronx controller claims multiple spark throught the rpm range. I want to do fuel and ignition at the same time in the process of restoration.

Here's some more info on using the Ford EDIS system:

MegaJolt is an ignition only version of MegaSquirt, but this shows how to deal with trigger wheel and sensor positioning plu how to deal with ITB/Sidedraft carb vacuum signals. _________________ Stefan
