|
|
I've seen a few 944 I guess they're called euro style hatches that replace the rear hatch. I like the way they look and I'd like to get or make one for my 77 924. I've spent a great deal of time trying to find one for sale on the net with no luck. Will one for a 944 work? need modification to work? I'm under the impression that 924 and 944 have different hatches is that correct? Any ideas?

Yeah that's exactly what I'm looking for, but at almost 600..... I've found whole body kits for 800. I think I'd be comfortable with $300. I mean I love my car but no one else does..... If it came down to crunch time after mechanics, body, paint, and interior I'd have a $4000 car that I could get 1500 for
Looks like I'm going the home made route. $50 and an absurd amount of time spent sounds more fulfilling anyway. _________________ 77924 |

those rear hatches are freakin' expensive.
That's why not every 924 has one. _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

Well, while I don't have much love for the aftermarket hatch, I can understand why someone would want it. My back glass appears to be working itself loose from the trim, and every glass place I've been to has said that they don't know how to fix it. Seems that my best option is to find a used one and swap them out. But all the used ones I've seen around here have the same exact problem. The trim is working free of the glass. So, if you're in the position of having to replace the back glass, getting one of these Strosek kits might not be completely out of the question. Strosek makes a front spoiler and side skirts that also look pretty nice. So, if that's your thing, why not? _________________ Fred- 1979 924 |

Get a 944 hatch. You won't regret it. |

That's certainly what I will do. The philosophy of my project is to make it as much like new as possible, with relatively few modifications. I want it to eventually look like it did the day it was driven off the lot. I'm just not hating on anybody who decides to get this aftermarket hatch option. I think it looks kinda cool. _________________ Fred- 1979 924 |

I don't know, I've owned a lot of cars. Too many to even try and count at this point and it's funny that my 924 was the closest thing to total loss when I got it that I've ever owned, but I like it more than any other. I'm not really set in stone about anything I want to do with it at this point, but I know that rear hatch and the rear bumper(comes out too far in my opinion) are about the only things I don't like about it. I'm taking it for paint here in about a month and just want to figure out as much as I can before then. I'm good with it now, but I want to throw in a little extra and make it my own if that makes sense.
I'm definitely on a budget but pretty open to any ideas anyone might have. Pictures would be helpfull also.
Also, I'm pretty good with fiberglass but have trouble making opposites that are symmetrical. So fender mods are pretty much not an option with my d.i.y. skills. _________________ 77924 |

Euro fenders and the 931 or 924S spoiler is the best balance on the rear of a 924. US fenders and 944 spoiler does stick out too far for the narrow body. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife
