Does the VW/Audi 1.8 Turbo motor fit directly on to a 924 NA/Turbo bellhousing? And is the 2.0 Fsi engine just a bored out 1.8T which will also fit the same bellhousing? _________________ Porsche 924 Carrera GT (Fake!) |

NO!
I thought so and bought the little 4-cyl but it doesnīt fit. It isnīt even close. Check my thread about VW engines that doesnīt fit.
What you can do is take the 02J gearbox and make an adpater. Google RWD Corrado and you will find the details. _________________ Carl Fredrik Torkildsen

gegge,
You've bought a 16v 2.0l ACE engine I think, but I want to use the smaller 1.8T engine. Or are the bellhousing layouts the same on both engines?
You seem to be some way towards the solution looking at your thread. In the bottom picture, you have the torque tube bolted through the VW(?) bellhousing, and through what looks to be a big steel plate. This is also bolted to the bellhousing, I suppose as a load spreader. Can you not just weld an aluminium doubling plate to the bellhousing and bolt the end of the torque tub to that?
Or am I jumping the gun and this is version 1.0 (trial setup)! _________________ Porsche 924 Carrera GT (Fake!) |

Iīm not 100% sure, but close. All 4-cyl has the same boltpattern. Well, maybe not the first 1.6l but the rest: PL, KR, ACE, 6A, 9A, ABA, ABF and so on plus all 1.8t. Iīm almost certain that 1.9tdi fits as well, the forged crank is an easy swap into the petrols and the block is thicker.
Modifiing a 924 bellhousing is too complicated compared to the FWD 020, 02J or 02A design. Easier to adapt the clutch too.
This is the thread I was refering to:

gegge,
Do you know the origins of the bellhousing being modified in the pictures? _________________ Porsche 924 Carrera GT (Fake!) |

Iīm afraid that I donīt. Guessing that you could taka a plain 02J and cut or grind the housing for the differential. _________________ Carl Fredrik Torkildsen

Interesting, what is the physical difference between the 02J and 02A except the rod/wires gearchange and size of the clutch? _________________ Carl Fredrik Torkildsen

Are you talking 2.7 turbo or the 4.2 v8? _________________ 81 924 N/A
