ok so im going through my porsche since im home for my two week leave and noticed something.
THe VIN on my firewall (passanger side right infront of batt. area)
reads as follows:
xxxxxxx
The VIN in my windshield is this:
xxxxxxx
(removed vin for safety reasoning.) ps the 7th 8th and 12th digit tells what model it is not the 7 8 and 9th digits... mine were 9 2 4 respectfully
Am i missing something here? I mean should these numbers match or what?
still nice to see that my car is number 967 of the 8000+ produced that year
Any info would be nice... and im sure its a stupid question but just curiouse

FWIW, I've been told before that "ZZZ" is the code for an RoW model and "AA0" is North American (at least for 944's, I assume 924S's are similar)... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I'm sorry to inform you that your 924S is actually a 928.
You have my sympathy. (That, and 3 grand will buy you some new 928 lug nuts.) _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

The number on the firewall is the Porsche Chassis Production Number. The number on the windshield is the Market Chassis Serial Number.
Think of it as being like the casting identifying number on a part, which is not the same as the finished part stock number that you order the part from the Dealer under. |

| figured out the error.. thanks guys though for insight... yes the chassis number is for RoW (Rest of World) and the one on the windshield was for here in America. |
