I really need one of those for my 924GTS replica.
Are they ready for sale? Or do you need a tester?

Thanks

Close or closer I should say. The main issue is one or two piece. With a two piece (a 'face', like I have been showing) or a single one piece print which requires an insane amount of supports to get the best surface finish on the face. Two piece needs some clip mechanism or simply screw together.

I'll have something very shortly I promise. I need one badly as well Can't leave my interior ripped apart like this

The other small detail is mounting. I have been working on that too within the design. Then I realized I have to redesign for SLA vs FDM when light-weighting is concerned. I wasted some time wanting to do a large single piece SLA but color would be worse (likely gray)

I owe some major updates here with the CS as well so stay tuned.

With some gentle prodding from Jacob this weekend, I took out the SLA centric modeling tweaks (basically hollow sectioning throughout), and started a 2-3 day print. One piece with massive amounts of supports and naturally the software for a FDM print 'hollows' it for me. What I learned in the Face Only print that its the gauges that are heavy but no need to add carelessly. It also has some mounting ideas I hope will work out. Update to follow in the next few days

33.5 hours remain with this one piece print. Also decided SLA is out due to material choice. Now its FDM or SLS but the latter will come later in August. Plus it will have to be a two piece design in which case the current process will be easier. The quality of the SLS should be very high.

So far pretty good for this one though. Only one issue early on which is far back in the car when installed so it continues. Its a lot of material.

Me too!....but at 7 hours to go, while I laid my head down to rest, the filament decides to derail and wrap around the derailing bar

This print is the largest by far I have ever done and is pushing the limits in every axis. 1mm more in either X or Y and you can't do it and even Z is way high. I changed the roll as I went to bed to be sure it was done this morning. I was better off leaving it alone because I also removed the second roll I had parked on the other side. It was helping to act as an additional guide for the long X axis travel. Anyway there is a defect now but at least I can still let it finish after fixing the issue.

Was hoping to test fit today but that will have to wait until tomorrow. If it finishes, I'll have it in hand tonight.

Also have some ideas to fix the derail issue. Its only an issue at the extremes where I am at now

5:10 to go, and right this second I am watching it derail the wrong way yet again ....

I see now. With a large fresh roll, the filament falls off to the side which causes it to twist. This then aggravates the next derail cycle....yet again!

Just placed a larger cardboard disc on the one side to control the large derail loop that happens. Rambling ...will update tonight!

...and then?

In all seriousness, that's pretty cool to be pushing the boundaries of your printer and your own experience.

Thanks! Always learning and remember you pushed me again with this project this week. Thank you!

It isn't perfect and it got crazy at the end. Managed to pull it out though. Now I need to test mounting ideas. To keep the quality level high I still am thinking two piece. Have to play with it and see. This one will need some repair and clean up. It isn't as nice as the first "face" print I did. Material cost was high too. As soon as its mounted I'll post

It seems I have several requests now for this part. My crazy head project has me distracted but I too need this to be finished so I will switch gears a bit and get this going

It was probably mentioned here already but I have access to another SLS printer which would be very interesting to try. The parts needs to be in two pieces though so the design needs some tweaking. The finish would be amazing with this printer

The hold up so far has been the mounting since the heater/vent controls seems to be at their limit and also wants to pull it down. Funny since the controls are in stock location? I just PM'd Pascal924 I suspected that maybe the original GTS version was supported by the cage under the dash.

I am going to keep playing with this and see how far I get. Updates to follow promptly. I promise

Checking to see if I have everything i want in place for an SLS optimized print. This version is shorter to the back by roughly 1.5 inches (38 mm) to what I have been showing you all so far. This is so it fits in the printers build envelope. The quality of this print should be amazing

I have been working on the two piece version simultaneously but think the SLS version would be so much nicer and easy enough for me to get going

Are the center console mounting areas all the same across all world variants? Might need to pull mine from the 80 931 to compare to CS

I think I am finally coming up with a plan to hang this thing adequately but I am hoping its the same for everyone. Essentially an adjustable bracket that mounts to this tab but also hooks above. The bracket will then project forward to support the console. I'll fabricate first then either machine or print the final version. Any comments or thoughts are welcomed

Printer I've been waiting on for 2 years just arrived yesterday so I hope to have an actual update soon. Nothing negative against the process of waiting and in so many ways I totally understand
