You might have already seen it but the March issue of 911 & Porsche World has a five-page article called Club racers (pg. 54) that includes the 968 Club Sport versus two versions of the 911. Might give some tips about CS spec's... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

- The Club Sport cars had NO underbody protection.
- Aluminium roll over bar.

Does anyone know, did any of the factory street cars (924, 944, 968, 911 etc.) EVER come with non-glass windows (lexan, makralon, plexi, etc.)? I know some of the factory race cars did like the GTS/GTR, but I'm wondering about street cars specifically... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

PS, was great to meet you in Milwaukee this past weekend. Had a great time with Paul and his family. Actually 'drove' Spike pretty hard. Since then added the Weltmeister 28mm front sway bar, big improvement. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

How about fiberglass front fenders and hood kinda like the 951 cup. Also take a look here http://transaxle.homeip.net/944/944S/ClubSport/Index.htm .I may go the same route on my 944 but i'm not sure yet(it's half way there anyway) _________________ '86 944 Club Sport replica

Some new goodies to help with the club sport theme:
Also had these made, all ready for the ceramic coater: one for the UWB, one for the CS, and one to put on the shelf for the eventual 941 rebuild:
The welder made a jig, so if anybody else wants one... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made

Me likey the J-Pipes! They are Boss! Can see how that can solve a lot of stress/vibration issues.
What would cost be if we supplied our own J-pipes?
Is clearance OK with surrounding pipes? _________________ "Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right. Unless you are goin' all the way."

Don't know yet on clearance, I only eyeballed it, and didn't see any immediate concerns. Somebody else here did this mod, I think it was Kenodog IIRC. I also saw a reference to it somewhere in the tech section, but I can't remember where now.
In addition to vibration issues, I think the biggest benefit to these is the thermal expansion issue. According to Scott Hoag at MRT (where I had the welding done), he wasn't surprised that these pipes had issues cracking at the swaged joints due to the different thermal expansion of stainless vs. the iron manifold and the rigid mounting to the torque tube (via the wastegate bracket). He wanted to develop a slip joint for me, which is his preferred method on these types of exhaust components, but I had already purchased the couplers, and didn't want to pay for his R&D FWIW, Scott is an engineer by trade & training (ran the Mustang program at Ford up thru 2004).
Cost would probably be somewhere in the ~$100 ball park for labor, materials and parts, but I have to verify what I paid for the joints, it's been a while now. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Looks good.
I have 2 questions for you.
- Who produces the bucket seats? (Momo, Sparco, ect)
- How much the seats and the roll bar weight?
Thanks _________________ 1976 924 N/A ROW SOLD

Those particular seats are Sparco's, haven't checked the exact model or weight. I acquired them for an unbelievable price second-hand...they were essentially new-in-box, never installed, never sat in, perfect condition, and included BOTH sets of double locking sliders.
Haven't weighed the bar either, need to do so, will try to get to it later this week. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
