If there's a track day close in time to the IMSA or Historic races at RA, I would totally be down for a pilgrimage.

Definitely interested in coordinating something like this! I've made the acquaintance of the events coordinator for the Chicago chapter of PCA, so there's a good chance I can suggest an event and offer to host a gathering point at our place. Let me see what I can do! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

+1 that used to be the 'historics' weekend at RA, till corporate money came along. Doubt there will be any DE schedules out for that weekend. The MN PCA club usually does a DE, mon/tues in mid-June. But, don't see it listed yet for 2016. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Brian Redman weekend in Road America is one of the best events of the season. There is no way to drive DE,only way to go on the track if not racing is during the lunch brake. Those spots are usually sold out almost right away,so be fast with registration ! Few hundred of the rarest and most original cars starting from pre war race car, vintage historics and ending up with F1 and DTM cars. I recommend to be there as a spectator. It is a must to see.Oh and you can't miss parade of the race cars from the track to downtown Elkhart Lake. Where can you see Porsche 917 and Jaguar prototype driven on the street?
There is many hi speed driving events around Chicago.
First of the season is test and tune in Gingerman Raceway hosted by Fisher family in April. Perfect way to blow out some winter dust and check how the new upgrades are working. Very laid back, not pressure event. Cost is usually around $200. Not bad.
Then we have few events put together by Shwan Young and his LAPS organization. They have events in Blackhawk , Autobahn and Road America.
And of course PCA Chicago and Milwaukee region.
Few pictures from Road America "Hawk" .I was there supporting 1971 Trans Am Chevrolet Camaro for one of my customers.

Looks good. Now it just needs a vacuum. _________________ 1981 932 with mods:

Apparently, I never got around to documenting the installation of the TMCC into the club sport.
This was the car for which I developed my Top Mount Charge Cooler, the ONLY bolt in intercooler for the 931 that doesn't require sheet metal modification. These units were modeled after the 937 air-to-air units, and use 100% of the stock fittings and brackets. I had a spare 937 top mount intercooler that was used to build the jig. The TMCC is produced exclusively for Ideola's Garage by Bell Intercoolers. Here is a pic of the first unit produced:
Here's a sequence of pics showing the test fitting.
Detail of OEM 937 intercooler bracket mount:
Detail of throttle body fitment and mount points to throttle body brackets:
Initial fitment in engine bay before plumbing:
Completed install:
Closeup of Bell Intercooler serial plate:
Detail of charge cooler water pump mounted to a repurposed headlight lifting bracket (note the fixed headlamp conversion):
Placement of the charge cooler external radiator used for cooling the coolant that passes through the charge cooler. This is located under the LHS headlamp, directly opposite where the stock 931 oil cooler is located, to take advantage of the 931's vented chin valance. It's a bit smallish, but surprisingly effective:
A little hard to see, but this is detail showing the connections from the stock 931 turbocharger outlet to the charge cooler air inlet. It is simply two 45° silicone couplers with a 90° aluminum elbow in between. Pretty straightforward to connect.

Engine bay looks awesome, Dan, but I do wish you could find a way to feed your motor some cooler air. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Cut hole in sheet metal below passenger headlight, route intake tube through hole and mount air filter to end of tube below the sheet metal, include puddle protection valve and ensure fender liner and ducting in place to ensure filter is protected and productive.
Tricky part is getting the piping bent to fit around the headlight mechanism and still provide sufficient air flow. Not impossible, I believe, just not easy (unless you're running fixed headlights, then you've got more room to work) _________________ Stefan

Yeah, I agree with both above statements about cold air intake. I am running fixed headlights, so I think it would be fairly trivial to create something akin to the early 944/924S setup, where the snorkel is routed behind the headlight and through the inner fender sheet metal. I'll add it to the list.
In terms of the current location, it's not any worse than stock, as the cone filter is drawing air from exactly the same spot that the snorkel on the stock airbox points. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I did follow Rasta's advice and redirect the cold air intake to the void behind the RHS headlight. Need to take updated pix.
Anyway. Car can be bought if anyone is interested... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
