Just a brainstorm.

I recently drove a friend's BMW Z3 with the 1.9L 4 cylinder and a Downing Atlanta (I think) supercharger kit. I was looking at the engine and thinking...

Could a BMW engine be transplanted into the 924?

If only BMWs used the Audi bolt pattern...

As some have said in the past.....

....anything's possible with enough time and money.

Like any engine swap into the 924/944 you need a bellhousing to adapt it to the torque tube. A clutch/flywheel that will work with the starter and the input shaft from the transaxle. After that you have to fit it in the engine bay, so mounts, possible oil pan clearance, hood modifications, etc.

curious do the Z3 engines sit in the car on an angle like the 924. helped a buddy with his 77 320i the other day. was amazing the similarities in the engine compartment. the engine was in on angle and it was Bosche CIS. If the Z3 sits in the same this could be a practicle application.

Supercharged Porsche 2.5 would be much easier.

Certainly Brain,I too drove BMW Z3 I was mesmerizing.I think they have replaced BMW Control Arm & Suspension Bushings because usually this vehicle will start showing significant vibration around 50 miles per hour but I couldn't find such issue,I found the drive was very smooth like a butter.
