gonna try and convert a 78 n/a to CGT, I think the turbo hood might be a little more subtle which may look pretty cool but if i can't find one of them i'd at least like to find someone who has a CGT hood scoop thats not trying to get like 200 bucks for it.
Thanks! _________________ 1978 guards red 924, stock... for now |

I am the one (so far) dissenting vote - I think the scoop looks a little cheesy. If you don't have a real CGT, it will never be one, thus emulating the entire look is optional anyway. A more subtle look is always better. Just one man's opinion. |

Well i did just put in an order for CGT rear fender flares. I do like the style for the CGT but it is a little cliche'd I want to do mine different but still have it look good. Plus, until I get the performance aspect of my car done (or at least relatively close) it would be a little redundant _________________ 1978 guards red 924, stock... for now |

Why not go for the D-Production look? Its more appropriate for an N/A.

Agreed. And the complete body kit is MUCH cheaper and easier to install. Plus, AIR makes a nifty little hood scope that looks better (IMO) than the stock CGT (even though the factory D-Prods didn't have 'em). _________________ 15 981 GTS | 88 924S SE | 82 931 Holbert | 82 931 Rallye | 81 937 | 81 Euro 931 | 81 Weissach | 80 US 928 | 80 US 931 '941' | 80 US 931 | 80 931 GTR | 79 Sebring | 78 D-Prod Replica | 78 w/D-Prod kit | 78 Poli-Form | 78 Limited Edition | 77 Martini |

I thought about D-production for a little while but I got the curse of "hating anything common." granted there is only one 924 I've seen in the entire high country of AZ. but still, i want to do mine in a way that it is unmistakably mine... (but not rice it out!)
how would this look?
944 Turbo front bumper fitted to narrow body
924 Turbo header panel
924 Turbo hood
924 Carrera GT Rear Fender Flares
924 Carrera GT Rear Window Spoiler
17" Boxster Alloys
and one of the aftermarket companies makes a flush mount rear bumper
Painted in Silver, or Gunmetal Grey... (though my GF is still hoping and praying for that crazy green in the topic about the color codes) _________________ 1978 guards red 924, stock... for now |

Like a frankencar. You'll have fun getting the 944 front valance to work with stock 924 fenders. The narrow front track with wide rears will look (and probably drive) completely out of balance. But if you want unique, well, you'll get it with that combination
I'm not exactly sure how one could consider the D-Prod to be common. There were only 14 made from the factory, and I've personally only ever seen one replica, which is the 924S that has been converted to the D-Prod body here locally in Detroit at a local exotic car dealer. In my opinion, their rarity is what makes a D-Prod replica so enticing. _________________ 15 981 GTS | 88 924S SE | 82 931 Holbert | 82 931 Rallye | 81 937 | 81 Euro 931 | 81 Weissach | 80 US 928 | 80 US 931 '941' | 80 US 931 | 80 931 GTR | 79 Sebring | 78 D-Prod Replica | 78 w/D-Prod kit | 78 Poli-Form | 78 Limited Edition | 77 Martini |

Before you start tally up the costs.
Parts
paint
labor
time
cutting up the car
final worth but be honest about it
Got it all covered approach it as a hobby. Enjoy doing the work and when you are finished sit back and admire it or say to yourself was it worth it. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

Good point Vince,
I've been working on making my 931 into a CGT replica for about a year now. Its not something you do overnight and it can get expensive. The hood scoop, fenders, rear flares, rims, tires, cutting, welding, epoxy, bodywork and painting are gonna add up big time. This says nothing about the time involved in actually doing the work. Its a big job not as easy as just slapping things on.
I'm also personally a bit put off by N/As masquerading as CGTs, that in itself is pretty ricey IMHO. Only adds to the 924's gutless reputation and some would say it defines the term "Rice".
D-Production is the way to go, it'll still require some work but much less than your current plans. Plus it'll look cool and be cool.
My 3 cents. _________________ 1981 931 GT (CGT Intercooled)

well i do have experience doing body work so that's not too much of a problem. And as far as the D-prod. I know it's an uncommon sight, but it's not my cup o tea. that particular fender flare just doesn't complement it the same way a CGT does. I might drop the CGT flares on the back because a narrow body with a Turbo 944 bumper in my opinion looks prettuy badass. ex. look on the porsche924ownersclub.com website then on club photos at the very bottom is a silver 924 with a turbo front bumper and the "sleepy eyes" headlight conversion[/img] _________________ 1978 guards red 924, stock... for now |

and I define rice as those cars that look like rainbows driving down the road 4 colors on the outside and decals slapped on over it, another 3 different colors on the interior with a black and chrome steering wheel bought from checker or ebay. _________________ 1978 guards red 924, stock... for now |

Wow!!! I've gotta say this looks damn good. I could do without the sleepy headlights though.
You could likely purchase the AIR N/A to turbo nose, cut out some of the center and get it to fit really snug with the 924 fenders.
