Since more and more members are converting to MS and other EFI setups, I (and some others) think that it would be a great addition to the board if there would be a seperate EFI subforum.
Simply a central EFI thread wouldn't be adequate and I think it's gonna be a mess in no time.

Well, I'm not going to contribute any bodily parts or fluids, but yes, a dedicated EFI sub-forum would be awesome.

perhaps a sticky thread with common EFI faq's or info like what it is, how it works, what kind of injectors can be used (some ford fuel rail was plug&play?) etc...

just to keep everything as clear and clean as possible... too much threads are the cause that the search isn't efficient.

I think an Engine Management forum would be better. A sticky would get ungainly in a hurry as questions are asked and answered about tuning maps, etc.

I'm against it. There's nothing worse than a forum with too many sub-areas. I think EFI/engine management are just topics under the performance forum. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

and an immediately closed sticky, just with info, not intended as a discussion thread? solves it... some sort of "read before you post/semi database"

chrenan, don't you think there will be lots of EFI questions the next few years? that'll be the new standard... just like "what do I need for conversion"... "what? grounding?" and other redundant topics which can't be found in the mega heap of topics with dubious names.

I think it's better to keep it in a certain section... why do we have a engine transplant section? that isn't as common as we think and could be posted under performance upgrades...

not that I think we should ditch the section...but I think efi deserves it more than engine transplants.

especially with efi there will be lot's of the same questions... and finding helpful knowledge in the spread out topics isn't easy... for instance, I've got lots of info in my "I'm back on the road" thread...but does anyone know what's exactly in there? Even I don't... I could create threads for every little problem or thought that I have... but if everyone did that, the end is in sight...

Martinjus, I tend to agree...that's sort of the problem right now is that all of the EFI / Engine Mgmt stuff is buried in three or four different places...general discussion, performance upgrades, 931 discussion and 931 tech. Might even be some in the 924S area as well as engine swaps. If it were all in one sub-forum, it would be easier to find meaningful search results by narrowing it to just that one sub-forum.

{EDIT}
I also like Rasta's suggestion of perhaps expanding it to Engine Management instead of just EFI.

Why not combine it with the engine transplant forum? Its a pretty extensive mod anyway and then it will be tucked out of the way for those who can't cope with EFI so they can go back to moaning about hot /cold starts or broken WURs...

Yeah, except I'm always fixing things that aren't broke on my Porsches!

I'm not convinced there should be an engine transplant section either, so I'm not swayed by that argument.

I haven't heard an argument yet that would convince me to litter up the forum with another sub-section. But then again, it's not my living room, it's Peter's, so his is the only vote that counts.

I will say this, I think it should be like a bar at capacity. Someone comes in when someone goes out. If we add an EFI forum we should eliminate (or at least lock new posting in) one of the existing forums. "Cool Drives" and "Links" aren't exactly hot-spots of activity. The "GTS Challenge" section might as well be an icecream stand at the North Pole.

Seriously, it is a Porsche board dedicated to a Porsche that was built when the 9XX's weren't weighted down with endless options, not even cup-holders. The 924Board should reflect that sentiment as well, lean and mean.

kick... nothing's going to happen this way.

In a few days I'll be flooding the board with efi questions and stuff... all over the place

Me as well. My vote is for an Engine Management sub-forum, and if we have to sacrifice Cool Drives to get it, then so be it. My ECU is on the way, and a bunch of the other bits are already here, questions are already percolating...
