No no, it's $25K to build a 16V turbo 968 motor, and do all sorts of other upgrades on the 968. If you want a 924 with a 968 motor, make it a 924S. It is a pretty straight forward job. You just have to replace the engine/tranny...

and the body shell, the suspenson and the interior and the wiring and now you have a 924 with a 968 motor

I'm thinking about putting a 968 motor in my 88 924S, has anyone done this, can anyone provide the procedure?

I got in touch with a lot of people about this. Marsh from here on the board is doing this, I don't know how far he has come along.

I know a guy in Europe who wants to do this with his 952, he wants to build a 968 turbo motor for it, and upgrade his body panels to 968 lightweight fiberglass.

Since the 924S is mechanically a 944, the swap is exactly the same procedure as a 944/968 swap. From what I have been told, the major issue is the location of the aircleaner, and if you get a cone filter on a pipe, it's not a problem.

if i were doing any crazy engine swap i would start with a dirt-cheap PoS from the wreckers, strip everything from the front end and *THEN* try to fit that damn engine in. the amount of work required in fabricating and shoehorning would make this the smarter idea, in my opinion.
and, as much as i love my 924 (931) there's no way in hell you would catch me doing the swap. i'd use a 944.
why? because i want the damn body kit too, and the updated styling of the interior, and all that extra space up front.
but you can spend your money how-ever you like.

I heard that you could modify the 924 crossmember easily enough to fit a 944 motor... Just hearsay though.

I agree Frisky, it would be best to pick up a 944 or 924S from a junkyard, and put the 968 motor in it. I want to get a 924S and put a 968 engine in, but I'm not in a financial position to do that.

Just curious here, but what're the output differences of a 968 engine and a 944 engine (the one i seem to have in my 924s)?
