First, My 87 924S is a beauty. but, sometimes after shifting into 5th gear and 4th and reverse and letting out the clutch, it'll chatter at me. sometimes REALLY loud, as in to the point where it'll rattle my teeth. anyone know what might cause this?
Second, I have heard a wonderful rumor that it is possible to fit a 944 S4 or 968 DOHC headers onto my engine. I am arguing against it, because it doesn't make sense that a 3.0L Head fits on a 2.5 L engine. well, thanks for your help.

I don't have a 924S, (have 931) but I do get the chattering in reverse and sometimes in first. I can avoid it by finessing the clutch out just right. It's probably caused by one or the other or both an imperfect clutch and bad motor mounts. I'm looking to replace the motor mounts soon. |

Bad motor mounts show at low rpm, are you shifting at too low an rpm?
A clutch disc that is going bad will exhibit the symptoms that you are describing, but the problem will continue to get worse, and if you don't take care of it, you could damage the transmission, and/or get stranded somewhere when the clutch completely fails. |

Ya, I know that I'm not shifting at too low of an rpm. I do know that my clutche's life is nearing it's end . I didn't know that the motor mounts could do that. but I am planning on buying a Sachs power clutch when I get $800.00 (i'm only 19) so if anyone knows about these and if they are good, let me know. Thanks |

i have an 87 924s and my car did that exact thing so i put it on the lift took out the clutch and i found that the rubber part of the clutch disk that flexes was worn out and it made the clutch chatter really loud when i shifted so i replaced the clutch now it drives like brand new

alright. thanks for all of your help. I'm gonna fork up the $1,300.00 for clutch parts and labor (Porsche dealership employee discount.) I am gonna get a new clutch that doesn't have the rubber disk, but a metal one with the springs inside... wish me luck.
