Just installed a throttle cam, KN filter, and Autothority chip. I can feel a remarkable increase in performance. Is it blistering? Might be. It's actually feeling very very fast right now. I can heartily recommend doing these basic mods if you want *some* performance without going through your whole motor swapping cams/pistons/etc. Simple upgrades that dramatically change the grin on your face and the drivability of the car(in a positive direction). Try it!

Have you advanced your timing yet?

Nothing in the instructions from Autothority refers to advancing the timing yourself. I've always assumed the chip advances the timing, not the installer. Install the chip and drive.

What's involved in changing the chip? Is it labour intensive or pretty basic? I'm looking into this package for my car.

Under the steering wheel is the silver box with "motronic" on it. Undo 4 8mm bolts and slide the box out. Unclip the connector and remove the whole box. Take it inside and bend up the silver tabs(like on paintings) with a screwdriver. Take out the board, separate the two halves, pull out the old chip, put in the new one, reverse the steps. It took about 20 minutes to do everything so not hard at all. The hardest part was getting your head down in there and reaching up to the bolts and also bending the silver tabs..have a very thin, flat screwdriver. Much easier than I thought it was!
