Correction: Lash pads are not necessary unless you leave the rest of the head oem.

To gain the max performance from the cam one should "grind" the valve seats (to a radius-shape) and give the valves a few angles.

When doing this the valve automatically comes higher, therefore no need for lash caps.

The $300 for a brand new cam seems to be a very good deal!

yeah i heard port and polishes cost like $500, so how much does this valve seat changin cost? I mean sure you can do that...if you have a wallet the size of a 911 owner, im talking about us cheap people.
In fact, why not just get porsche design a new head for yah, a long with a new cam, anythign is possible, its the $$ that limits us, i always try to reason and limit things by looking at most of the guys budgets

Hey!

I am a student, so I know all about being cheap and not having money!

But, I will have spent less than $2500 on my car when it is ready, including buying the car!

$2500 will get me a 12 second car in the quarter mile!

Included in the $2500 there are new shocks (Koni Sport - yellow) and a restoration of the original wheels - stuff that was not necessary.

I prefer performance to looks, therefore I would not go out and buy 17" wheels.

Cheap is better than shiny,
fast is better than cheap!

Some of my expenses:

porting of head: $250
Valve+seat job + installation of cam: $125
Cam: $150

Worth it? Oh yes!

[edit: I keep getting my smilies wrong! ]

"where do you get so cheap stuff?"

It's all about contacts... Knowing people, getting to know people that they know, and so on.

And, of course, getting the job done with no receipt...

Why pay taxes?

It's also about doing favors! I help TTR (the engine builders) with their computers...
