It made 205 hp in SVO Mustang, 175 in Merkur...Tbird Turbo coupe, etc.

I wonder how it would do....it weighs 450 lbs with turbo hardware.

Some pics. in native habitat....parts seem to be cheap.

Not worth it?

JMO, not worth it. Too tall and too old. The technology on this engine was born in the 1974 Pinto. The 924 motor basically has the same power potential per litre so all you would be gaining is another 300cc's displacement. Lot of dollars and headaches for minimal gain.

I saw that the 2.3 can be fitted with a Volvo twin cam head - but as you say, just more money for a blown Pinto engine.

Nice work by Volvo:

Ya, I remember reading something about that too. Never saw a report on a finished project though. Probably a worthwhile mod if you where looking for more than 400HP.

Man! That's one shit load of work!! That took some perservierance, ignorance or a little of both to see that project to completion . Impressive.

Got any other impressions you care to share?

Hey guys.

Yeah the link above is for our little boat anchor as its called by the 5.0 guys. We have been greatly surprised at how well it responds to simple mods. I'm at the 500 flywheel hp level now and still using a factory cast iron single cam head.

There was a ton left in my set-up and we are expecting to make a 9.99 1/4 mile pass next month.

This is what we did with the anchor, imagine if we got ahold of a boat.

Nice to see a bunch of domestic guys in the same boat as 924 guys. Written off by their own brand following and getting more out of a platform than anyone expects. Sweet.
