Yeah people get grumpy about these cars and the prices.
Personally I don't care. If it's worth a dollar or $5K or $10K I still like it and it'd take a whole whack of cash to pry the steering wheel from my hands.
What would I replace it with for $3K or $6K or $10K? A Subaru? Celica? Honda? Sunfire?
I'd rather be flayed. |

The people that get upset usually find a "Porsh" for a great price and buy it thinking they will flip it and make huge profit. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

I agree tuurbo, I love my 931. It's beautiful, comfortable, fast, relatively practical, and handles like a dream. My favorite part? I have never seen another one on the road while I have been out for a drive in Shaggy. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Agreed, but I think your last point is usually a pretty good indicator of a possible increase in value coming in the future... the 931's rarity. I personally expect there will be a modest increase in value... nothing worth "flipping" for but enough to let the Porsche community know 931s have been grossly underrated. _________________ 1981 931 GT (CGT Intercooled)

Who cares what excellence says. What matters to me is what the insurance will pay if the car is "written off". My yellow V8 is appraised for 20K and the Neil's car was appraised for 7.5K. _________________ 1976 924

This is a very good point. My 924 is appraised at 12K, if I write it off that is the cheque the company will cut me, end of story. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

Lol... I just read the article included with the market analysis and it appears that I'm dead wrong.
I'm quoting the offending excerpt word for word.
"I have owned both the 924 and 944. My 924 was a project car, while my 944 has served as a daily driver and has returned great service over the years. Having said that, I likely would not buy either of these models again. The only 924 I would consider is an 87' or 88' 924S. If you MUST have an earlier 924, I recommend avoiding the 924 Turbo as maintenance for these cars has always been costly."
So you see 931s are THE LEAST desirable 924s. You learn something new everyday.
BTW I wonder how his project 924 turned out??? _________________ 1981 931 GT (CGT Intercooled)

I'm just teaasing, I'm not sure anyone posted about it, I got that Excellence a while ago so I thought everybody had seen it by now.

This text has been reprinted faithfully in the 924/944 market update year-after-year for at least 5 years. The market updates in excellence are sort of a running joke from what I can tell. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

I don't think adding fact and logic to a thread is an "angry outburst". |
