Okay, so I figured I'd post this in Perf Upgrades because its a BAE turbo on an NA car.

The oil is supplied to the turbo from a tee fitting at the oil pressure sensor at the back of the head. It runs through a #4 line over the top of the head to the RayJay based turbo and then goes out through a #8 line down to the oil pan where it is tapped in about two inches from the top, give or take.

I'm getting a lot of oil into the exhaust, almost as if it is pouring straight in. There was enough in there to make the car hard to start because of the blockage. (The lowest part of the exhaust in that area is right off of the hot-side of the turbo). The hot side of the turbo is sealed off of the center section by a spring loaded plate, so I figure that the oil is either coming in too fast, not exiting fast enough, and / or is at too high of a pressure and it is forcing its way into the exhaust.

I don't know if I need to limit the flow of the oil to the turbo or reduce the pressure? How would I even do that? Like I said the feed line is a #4 (I.D. similar to a pencil) and the exit is a #8 (I could almost put my thumb in the line).

Any other ideas possibly?

Thanks.
-Derrick

Hi, I'm glad you've finally got it up and running

Mine has the same oil line in, and no oil problems. It sounds like one of the seals has gone inside it I'm afraid

I guess the other possibility is that your oil drain is blocked and causing internal pressure??

First, check your crankcase breathers for blockage, then check drain lines and then you could go 2 mm restrictor but this is only temporary cure as when seals are toested, they won't hold for long even with lower oil pressure.

Personally I'd install a pressure sensor on the oil inlet to the turbo, that way you know what kind of pressure your getting into your turbo. From the things I've read, your supposed to install a restrictor to bring it down to around 20-25 psi pressure at the inlet. Anymore than that and it'll starts blowing through the seals. So, I would install a sensor, just to see what kind of pressures your getting, and then follow raceboys advice on installing a restrictor, but base the size on what kind of inlet pressure your getting.

I don't know about blowing the seals on this particular turbo, because its spring loaded, not a fixed seal. My thoughts are that it is spring loaded to allow excess oil into the exhaust rather than blowing the seals. Just a guess though.

I was thinking of going with a .06" hole restrictor which is about 1.5mm. I was planning of getting it from: http://www.intengineering.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/3333550/vpcsid/0/SFV/32093

It would match the line sizes already in the car and hopefully cut down the pressure enough to fix the problem, because right now the turbo is getting the oil at regular engine pressure (its a tee off of the pressure sensor at the back of the head), which is about 50-100 psi, right?
