|
|
Hello all. I'm newly registered, but have been using the "search" here for about 6 months while piecing my 931 back together. The previous owner decided to put a cover over the cracked dash and somehow managed to remove everything from the firewall in the process. I got it with a hatch full of dash.
On to the question: Where is the writeup on removing/cleaning up the fuel gage sending unit? There is fuel in the tank (7 year old fuel) but reads empty on the dash. I thought I saw the writeup here but have been unable to locate it.
I'm to the point of cleaning out the old fuel, etc. and this would be the perfect time to get the gage working.
A pic of the work in progress:

Before trying to clean the sender, just check the earth (ground) connection on top of the sender. That got my guage working. _________________ 1980 924NA ROW |

Buy a new one. I have ruined a few trying to clean them. You can take them apart but when you try to clean the wires inside you will stretch them making the unit useless.
If anything I would carefully remove the fiber nut on the bottom and put cleaner in without removing the insides.
Then go and buy a new one. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"
