header pictures:

I've read that with a header (I'm not sure if with all of them or just a certain brand) you need to use the shorter BMW oil filter because the header interferes with the standard filter.

Is that the case with this header? Does anyone know what kind of header this is? I got it with a bunch of 924 parts I got. I'm going to install it on my 80 N/A.

My problem is that I have a sandwich adapter for oil cooler tubes so I've already been using the shorter BMW oil filter. Will I need to install a remote filter mount now to be able to have my oil cooler and this header? (I think the short filter + sandwich adapter are about the height of a standard filter.

Looks fairly much like my MSDS header, except I have no O2 bung.

Yes, I would expect it to interfere with the filter. I would recommend using the remote filter adapter and mount - makes life much easier anyway.

Vaughan,

Since Casper is going to get headers with his new engine, do you have a picture of the remote filter adapter and location, and a source?

Thanks,

Tom Cooper

yeah. A source on the remote filter mount would be helpful.

I wish my header had the O2 bung. I'm going to have to weld one in.

Could be a Bursch. I have a bursch on my n/a and there are no filter clearance problems. Has the O2 bung too.

Remote filter stuff can come from Racer's Wholesale, JC Whitney, etc.

I have had Stahl headers from York PA. Same ones that were made for Holbert. Better made than most of the other makers.

Very sturdy and I did not use a remote or shorter filter. I had one on for about 13 years. For some reason the runners were not very big. By big I mean around.

Yeah, those Stahl ones are spendy.

I've got some pics of the remote filter mount setup on my website under Construction. Sourced all my stuff from Racer Parts Wholesale, including oil cooler. Search my past posts, I've posted all the part #'s.

Now that's a quest not to be taken lightly. Could you give us a clue as to where in your four thousand eight hundred and eighty one posts we should look. I have never had great sucess with the search function on this site. I seem to either get everything in the universe that was anything remotely to do with the subject or come up empty.

I at least we know there are options out there, just have to keep looking.

My search for remote oil filter with the author 924RACR only turned up 269 possible matches.

Dumb Dumb would be a better name. I would really like to know how you narrowed it down and the number of posts that your initial search turned up. I just can not seem to get the hang of internet searches.

the board search is not that great. You should try Google and see which one works for you.

To use google to search the board go to google, click the "Advanced Search " link, enter your search words and in the "Domain: Only search..." box enter "924board.org".

The board gets indexed by google every couple of days so it's up-to-date.

The olde pro did a search on "racer parts wholesale" with "search for all terms" checked and might have specified the author "924racr" - that returns 17 topics. Without "924racr" you get a still manageable 21 topics.

OMG, just call me Poindexter.

[Hey - a "search for all terms" on "remote oil filter" by author "smoothie" gets it down to 2 topics. ]
