Tim is having the same issues with the 944 that he had with the 924, now he is thinking about a 928. Maybe someone should suggest a 911 as there engine is in the back and they dont have a rear hatch for the fumes to leak in!

Hmm, I think a mid-60's Ferrari would be a perfect fit for Timmah's "inclinations" (and no headaches, either)!

why doesn't someone just tell him to turn on the interior fan in the low speed setting so that it pressurizes the cabin?

Because he would say "I can't do that, I stepped on it and broke it while I had it out for lubrication. Besides, how would that do anything, the smell is coming from the rear? Ow, my head. OW!"

Min, I bet your right about the fan thing. I think its too much of a coincidence. Maybe no one ever told him you should always have the fan on at least a little.

He sold his 924 and bought a 944, and yet his name on rennlist is yummybud( )924...

One mixed-up dude.

Also, I'd like to know what student job he's got that pays for a 928. Last I heard, he was working in a grocery store.

haha, I don't work at a grocery store, that was a long time ago. I now do sales/ how much I make depends on how much I sell. Right now because it's close to christmas I make a lot of money but I probably will make much less after christmas.

actually about the fan, the fan on my car doesn't even fully turn off, when the car is running hot heatcomes out of the heating vents even when it is turned to zero, I was told that this happens when the heater system fails. Also the airconditioning doesn't work (related to this). Before I changed by belts and pump the air conditioning was blowing ice cold so it just broke down after sitting or something.

Tomorrow I'm getting the old carbon monoxide tester out and will put it in my car when I drive to work. I already used foam tape all over the top hatch so it looks like it seals tight now, I was even considering duct taping the entire hatch from the inside.

and it's not only me you can do a search on rennlist and there are tons of threads about fumes getting in 944s and a lot of other people have replaced the seals etc and still can't fix it.

I personally can't smell anything inside the car except just an old car smell same as my 924 but with the 924 I had CO inside as shown by the detector.

anyways I don't really care anymore. It's just a car, I can always sell it. I wouldn't sell it for less than 4500 though, I just did the belts, water pump, seals and paid 800 for new tires.

I'll try the fan thing, tomorrow. The fan is stuck on hot so when the engine warms up it will blow hot air and it gets uncomforably hot inside the car so I just turn off the heat (even though it still blows heat out a little). I haven't had time to see what broke with the heating system, because it's apparently stuck on the hot setting.

yeah you could be right, I also thought maybe I'm just really sensitive to the fumes.

with my 924 the highest reading I got with the windows closed was like 70 ppm, it should be 0 but that 50-70 ppm isn't crazy high CO levels but I guess it can be enough to cause headaches /dizziness.

also I want to get the interior of my car professionally cleaned, it has a old car smell to it and someone mentioned that maybe there is mold in the car.

I'm going to use my CO tester tomorrow when driving to see what it reads.

about the heater always being on, did you check the clips underneath the dash to see if they had broken?
