Hey guys,

If you have seen any of my other posts, I aquired a V6 Vortec conversion 924. I have a couple of questions tho.

Im going to have to make some sort of hood cowl, or maybe buy a small air scoop thing. Anyone have a goo example? the vortec pokes out quite a bit. I want it too be pretty low profile if possible.

Also, is there anyway I could relocate the alternator? I think that would help minimize the size of the cowl i need to make.

Yeah. I havent really fiddled with it much at all.

Oysteinrb -a Vortec V6 is a chevrolet engine, out of a GMC Jimmy I think. Anywayn, Its a 4.3l high output engine, so its suposed to have around 250 horsepower.

Why does it sot so high, is it because the sump is interfering witht he x-member. Anyhow the best think to do is try and do a reverse scoop following the lines of the original and then you will have either a dead air vent at the back of the hood or you have a great air intake at the base of the windscreen. It looks like there is room for the alt on the other side, you will have to play with belt length but as it has an idle pully you can sink the alt in close, or if no how much room do you have lower down, it looks like it;s all bracket, wasn't that where the P/S pump used to sit, can't you relocate down there, I'g have to go look at my neighbours pickup to have a better idea but it looks like you have plenty of options. Also a 944 coolant resovior cleans the rad system up a lot.

Hey, thanks for the tip adie!
I was wondering what to do with that pesky coolant tank. The PO had bolted it into a place which interfered with the headlight motor. I was thinking of putting it in the battery box, and relocating the battery to the trunk.

Update:

I installed a new starter, and added some header heat wraps....Unfortunately the starter gear is not touching the flywheel teeth, and the starter is just spinning free when I try and crank the engine...

I guess I will have to look for another starter..

Im switching all the suspension and running gear over to late style 944 turbo and doing the LS-1. Right now im just getting all the parts around to do it, while stripping one 924 to learn all the obsticals ill be running into.
