they are not very powerful engines unless your in high rpms, you can turbo them moderatley but there would be better examples of 4 cylinder motors to put into the 924.
toyota 4AGE turbo or 4AGZE supercharged would be prime candidates for a low budget but easily improved base...
something better would be from the nissan SR range
or better still would be the toyota 1JZ or 2JZ motors, these being sixes though have been readily transplanted into 240zx's down here for a long time...
why not just stick a 13B rotary in it.. I take it your getting a s2000 motor for free or something...?

This is a five cylinder, so a small six should fit and possible a big six with a little modification to the radiator mounts, there is enough room in the front to get another inch IIRC because the evaporator for the air con was mounted infront of the rad... even if it required having a small triple pass rad in place of the origional, the only woory I think might be bonnet clearance and this may require a bit of planning with the engine mounts and crossmember clearance, a dry sump might be neccessary...

The Honda engine might actually fit under the bonnet/hood. From the photos I've seen it's a really short engine compared to most Japanese engines. Most Japanese engines are really tall. Measure before you buy.

Another possibility to add to the list is the Nissan CA18DET (1.8L Turbo). The CA18 turbo is an all-alloy engine that makes about the same power as a 931, weighs a lot less, revs like a Honda and can use most of the bolt-on bits made for its big brother the SR20.

FYI
keeping a four cylinder: stock figures
4AGZE 123kW (1990)
SR20 DET 172kW (GTiR)
3S-GTE 165kW (MR2-GT)
13B-REW
187kW (early cosmo)
195kW RX7 RS
206kW RZ

20B 208kW

then with a little help...
A 4AGZE engine will make around 294kW@RW on 1.5bar GT30
A 13B rotary will make around 275kW@RW on 1.1bar GT40
There's guys on the MR2 forum with engines making 290kW@RW as well

The short answer to almost every engine swap question...

If you have to ask a question like this, it can't be done... not unless you have enough money to pay someone else to do it.

The S2K motor requires deep pockets......If one desires a japanese 4-banger $ vs. fuel econ vs. power vs. longevity.....consider the sr20det.....
I installed on in my 92 sentra se-r 20k ago....$900 shipped.......200hp stock....easilly upgradable to 300, not much more for $400. Or a Honda B18: readily available stateside, love to turbocharged, very fuel friendly.
Just my opinion if not going v8.

I thought this was discussed before, and everyone said the engine spun the wrong way....or was that only front wheel drive hondas? Wouldnt you run out of gear before redline with an s200 motor anyway? I think they rev to something like 8500 or something.

If you go this route, get a fuel truck. My buddy had a Holly 4BBL on one of these, and you could watch the gas gauge drop when you drove it hard. . .

yeah, rotaries really eat up the gas. They also need a gasket changed alot, which is under that triangle...thing..

I don’t kn if it will fit/work but i do know to get the power you will want to see, its not the best thing to go with. i got a Civic so i know my Honda’s. if you want power in a i-4, the vtec will give it to you, but at high rpm. not a prob if you racing but they don’t put out the low end torque. i would go with the vtec H22A or H23A, that is if they fit. if the s2000 will fit they should. they got 200-220 whp it the Prelude, so they got some zip. gut the thing and put about 3-5K in it and you CAN push 650+ WHP (in a civic). just 1.5k in ups to it and you can get 340-380 whp no prob (in a civic). with a s2000, its like 8k for 650. so like i said, i don’t kn if they will fit, but to what i know and in my opinion, its the better way to go. to see if it will fit, go to the Honda dealership with the 924 and show the head of parts and repairs (they will know or know some one who will) the bay of the 924. no joke, you might feel like a dumass but they will think its sweet that you want one of there engines in the 924. so ya, that’s what i got.

This is probably one of the most interessting engine swaps I have seen for 924. 968 3.0 L engine in lightened 924s:

Tim's Porsche 924: "Frankencar"

Video from track Notice what kind of car he is following and look at the other cars he start to overtake in the middel of the video.

Imagine what that car/engine could do with some forced induction
