What do you think about archiving the whole bunch when it hits 10K regardless of the date, unless it is easy to sort
That way we can start fresh.

but that way you loose the meaning of search, and the bunch of information that can help new users without having to ask again. Many new users joined lately, take that into account, too.
Is there any technical problem having more than 10K posts? |

the number of posts is not a problem for the database or the software and it takes up very little space on the server (less than 10meg right now).
If the board seems slow it's generally a network/Internet problem or someone including big pics with their posts or pics that are stored on an overloaded site.
If you have a look at the very bottom of each page you'll see a line like "phpBB Created this page in 0.206357 seconds" which gives you an idea of the load on the server.
I agree with Teo, if we archive posts we loose the ability to search them |
