Sorry for the dumb question.

Are there any belts in the back of an '83 924?

Have just bought it on Ebay, havent got it yet and the pictures dont show any

If it hasn't, can I fit them?

My 7-year-old is too precious to allow him to ride without a belt

Great resource

Thanks

Some do some don't.

Yes you can fit them very easily. The mounting points are there under the rear seat and carpet.

You will just need to source a set from a breaker or possibly from someone here on the board.

there's been a bit posted over the years about fitting rear belts if yours doesn't have them.

I'd be surprised if yours didn't have them. By 1983 rear belts were mandatory in most civilised countries.

He's from Ireland, the birthplace of civilization, so he should be OK.

Its a british car, so I too was thinking it should be OK

I'm living in Ireland, but a Londoner by birth (the real cradle of civilisation)

Hi connors dad, i have fitted three point belts in the back for my sons - the mount points are there. Nice to see another 924 in the country. If you need parts there is a guy out by me (kildare) with 5 924s for spares.

Hey wait I though I was Connors Dad?

Haha nice name for your son.

One of the posts is a bit misleading. There are no upper latch points for the 3 point harnesses that Porsche uses. At least not the proper ones. these were welded in the back hatch area of the later cars.

That said there are of course rear lap belt threaded holes on all of the cars. From 1981 on I believe all of the 924s were fitted with seat belts... I think... not absolutely positive though. My 1982 has them.

The first belts are the kind that do not retract. These are best for child safety seats. The later retractable belts are just as good for larger people as the manual belts but are no good for safety seats.

Yes That is what I am saying. Where does the upper belt screw in?

The factory belts have a nice steel reinforced bracket that is welded in place in the back. Forces on seat belts and the subsequent anchors are tremendous in an accident. I do not trust that a location that was not designed to hold this force would do it properly in an accident.

But I think about this more than most.

The third points would be above the rear seatback on the C pillars if you have them.
