|

I must have been a bad boy in a previous life! I just sent some info off to the city to see what we can do about this:
This is the second time it's flooded this badly in a month (and the second time I've called about it). It's only where I park, of course, and no where else in town. Obviously something underground isn't quite right...
The carpets were/are soaked all the way through. The water line made it up to the bottom of the steering wheel. So far the fuse box looks ok. The engine is out of the car, so no worries there - other than having an exhaust pipe full of water. And I had the oil cooler lines tied up, thankfully. I'll make sure and replace the transaxle oil, I imagine some water made it in through the vent on the trans. The interior looks to be the only real trouble.
Honestly, I didn't care for the fit and finish of the aftermarket molded set I have anyway. Has anyone tried using a later model 944 carpet in a 924/931? I'm curious to know if everything lined up properly. If I'm going to go with a used original set, then I'd like to find some in excellent shape. Which probably means out of the newest model I can use. If you have used a 944 set with success, please let me know which model/year!
In addition, the seat cushions were submerged too. My nice pair of late 944 leather / driver power seats. The breakers are quoting $675 for a replacement set. If I can find some manual sport seats for around that price, hmm...

ps - check out my poor bike!

Sorry to see Nick, that is terrible. I don't see why 944 carpet would be an issue, but I'm sure someone will know for sure. Will your car insurance cover the damage? _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

That looks like it's going to be a mess to clean out. Sorry to hear that.
Yes, a 944 carpet fits right in and lines up perfectly. I've got carpet from an '85 in mine (not 85 1/2).
Will the city actually compensate you? Or are you just calling them to let them know about the obvious lack of sewer action there? _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

Apparently there is a chance of squeezing some cash out of the city. I think that since this has been an on-going problem, the responsibility may lie more in their lap. Should be interesting...
After two carb rebuilds, lots of "dry gas", and rewiring all the ignition, the bike seems to be running pretty well
Thanks for the head's up on the 944 rugs DHook!

Nick, don't use rear deck carpet from an 85.5 or later 944. The pieces over the rear well on the L/H (pass.) side are a different size to accommodate the power system for the sunroof. You'll end up with a carpet that's too small in that area. HTH. _________________ '84 944 - kid blew motor
