Can't complain
We went to test our cars with few friends on tuesday, seems that 924 is quite fast

BTW, there was also an Audi RS2 with heavily modified engine (and big Turbobandit turbo running at 2.2 bars) and 600+ hp. At lauch he pulled ahead (though just ~1/2 car length) but I caught him quite easily in 3rd _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Wes, how many of those holset turbos do you have again?
I might need to do some calculation against my k27 thing _________________ https://www.the924.com |

I have:-
HE221W - Best 'small frame' Holset there is currently - good for 370-380hp. T2 in size and light rotating assembly.
2 x HX35 - one has 8 blade 56/83 compressor, other has 8 blade 54/83. One I got very cheap as it needs a rebuild - bought for spares.
HY35 with 10cm turbine housing. Also acquired a brand new 9cm housing for it from the states cheap that has the ~4" downpipe outlet.
I have what I think is a HE341 but it's oddball and needs measuring.
This was very cheap but is perfect, just needs cleaning.
I have to stop myself from thinking of a compound set-up _________________ 1979 UK 932 |

I would be interested in the HE221W perhaps. Planning to sell it or no? If yes, how much? What size of turbine wheel it has (ind/exd). _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

It took a while to find the HE221W for reasonable money.
I don't plan on selling it yet but I may do in the future depending on how the car drives with the bigger turbos.
It has 6 blade 60/44.2mm compressor with 52/46.6mm turbine and 7cm housing.
Most come with 6cm housing and there is a 8.5cm housing but I've never managed to find one.
I'll PM you further details... _________________ 1979 UK 932 |

The perfect turbo for a modified 931 road car IMO. _________________ 1979 UK 932 |

That is one little fast spinning turbo..perfect for the 2L.
As i see it its worthless to make it push more than 1bar unless you're ready to raise the rev limit.
I wonder how it would feel/drive compared to my old big piece of metal K27 _________________ https://www.the924.com

Happy to discuss in my thread, rather than mess up Raceboy's. _________________ 1979 UK 932 |

In mid-July went to shoot some photos with my friend who is a professional photographer:
And on Sunday during 3rd gear pull after trying more boost, this happened:
Nothing more, just the headgasket. Granted, the headgasket was reused from last time I pulled the head last autumn and wasn't in best shape even though it hadn't any significant miles on it.
I did order new headgasket from EBS and it should hold up just fine. Checked the pistons and cylinder bores too, not even slightest signs of detonation. That's good news I guess, driven all the time with pump fuel (98 here). _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

Nice pics !
Did the head lift or you're just borderline close to the gasket strength? _________________ https://www.the924.com |

I think it is the problem related to this specific headgasket. I had distilled water in the system in october when one night we suddenly got -12c and cooling system froze. The head gasket was concave a bit in waterjacket area and was probably weakened from this. You can see the concaveness around the 3rd cylinder.
But I will receive new gasket next week and we'll see _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp
