Has anyone experimented with getting a 16v head to fit the 2.0 924. Such as a Scirocco 1.8 16v. Or maybe a GTi 2.0 16v? I understand that it would take TONS of custom work, but would any of these line up? I've got too much spare time and need to find something to experiment with! Thanks, Tony. |

I don't believe it would fit too easily... BUT there was a german company (can't remember the name at the moment) who made 16V heads for the 924. Obviously they are impossible to get these days.
You can get a 16v head for under $200 (maybe even under $100) so it's fairly cheap to experiment with
thing you would have to check:
make sure the block size is the same. The 2.0 VW blocks are likely to have different bore/stroke measurements to achieve their displacement.
make sure the head bolt holes line up. Make a paper template from one head and try it on the other ...
Make sure the exhaust and intake sides are on the proper sides.
I should re-assert that I do not think it's possible. It's been a long time since I've looked at the VW 16v heads but I don't think they are the right dimensions.
