ok so i have looked through the engine trasplants looking for Audi V6's and really didnt fint any thing useful. So i found a factor rebuild Audi V6 with a 90k mile warrenty 2.8L 12 valve for $500, then add in a Megasquirt EFI kit and drop it in my car.
i know i'll need to make motor mounts and oil pan and oil pick up
so the question is:
1) will it fit?
2) bellhousing, will it bolt up or do i need to coustomize it?
3) should i quit dreaming and go with what i have in the car |

You can make just about anything fit in the car providing you have the time, patience and $$$$.
I have seen them with a v6 3.8lt advertised here in Oz.
Don't know how he did it but I can assume engine mounts, bellhousing and drive train were all modified.
Engine computer and management system, wiring, exhaust, cooling etc would have to be specially fitted.
More mods than the cars value. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

I think if you're going to go through the trouble of doing an engine transplant at least put a v8 in it
and yeah if you have the cash you can do anything, I saw a pic of some guy with a 944 with a 911 flat six _________________ 78 924 sold.

There's a nice rover V8 conversion that's been done over here. It was for sale a while ago. I've seen it. Looks like a standard 924 and goes like crazy. _________________ 1983 - 924 (185K miles) - not mint

If you pull out your measuring stick you`ll see why all transplants so far need to cut the hood. When I measured it was 52cm from the top of the crossmember to the top of the strut towers.
When I was checking to see what commonly available 4-cylinders would fit they all failed the height test. One engine that would be nice is the SR20DET from the Nissan Silvia/200sx but that is 62cm from sump to top of rocker cover so you`d end up with at least a 5cm (2in) lump in the hood.
I`ll move this to the right forum. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)
