Just what the title says. Has anyone tried this? I think mine might be going, but being that I am poor, don't want to spend(well really cannot spend) more than 100 on a new/working one.

i'm still running a 199x passat fuel pump...i cant realy tell the difference....since i dont know if i ever had an original porsche pump..but i think the performance is a litle bit down....as i never got under 10 seconds 0-100 and the rest of the car was stock and in perfect condition.

Only pumps from cars with K-Jet will fit, because units from cars electronic inj. systems work on lower pressure (5-6 Bar on K-Jet vs. 2-3 Bar on EFI).

I have a K-Jetronic workshop testing manual and it lists all the cars that came with this gasoline injection.

examples (as from 1981)

audi, Quatro, 80, 90, 100, 200

bmw 318, 520

Ford, capri , escort, orion, sierra

Ferrari: BB, Mondial, Testarossa, 208, 308, 328, 512i

Rolls Royce: Corniche, Silver Spirit, Silver Spur

Lancia: Thema

Mercedes, 230, 380SEC, 500 SeC

Porsche 911

Saab 900

Volvo 240 740 760 940

VW: Caddy, Corrado, Golf 1, golf 2, jetta, passat, santana, Scirocco.

Peugeot 505 604.

So all this models had KJetronic? that's what it says, so I guess a fuel pump from a golf 1 or golf 2 should work?

Most any EFI pump will provide the presure needed. I have dead-head tested hundreds and I find any that won't pump 100lbs suspect. Very few wont pass this test. I wouldn't hesitate to bolt on a Ford style frame mount truck pump. Very cheap.

Engine will start with EFI pump, but in most cases it won't run.
