When you put that Franco Cam gear on your engine, could you still put the timing belt cover on?

Who needs the cover anyway? It just added weight! |

If you have a 931, please use the cover!
Have you ever seen what happens to an interference engine when the belt jumps or breaks?
Without the cover a small stone can make the belt jump...

GOOD point! I hadn't thought of that! and yes, I've seen all too many motors blow after a bad timing belt, if your lucky, it'll only be the top end! Your a smart man Patrick. |

Yes, to get full use of the sprocket you should have one of two options done.
1. (cheap - about $50 - $75) get your timing curve changed. You have to choose where you want your power to come in and stuff
2. (not so cheap - $600 + $125) $600 for electromotive distributorless ignition system and $125 (about) to fabricate the wheel to the crank. This is by far the best way to get the most horsepower, excellent starts on cold and warm engines, better fuel economy... I could go on and on...
Yes, I recommend option 2. On a stock engine with DIS and the franco cam gear the power difference is great enough that you _WILL_ drop your jaw... Then you add a cam like WebCam's Stage 1 camshaft and you freak out with how much quicker the car is.... |
