Yea, so Im on my way home today in my 87 924s and just as I pull into my neighborhood I put the clutch in to come out of neutral and it loses pressure. The car makes this ratteling noise constantly and i can feel the clutch pedal ratteling with the car. When you engage the clutch and try to put the car in gear the clutch has a tendency to stick to the ground and the car wont go in gear, but as soon as you return the car to neutral the clutch pops out (sometimes reluctantly) any idea as to what broke? _________________ There are 10 people in the world, those who understand binary and those who dont.

I poked around and found this... http://www.connactivity.com/~kgross/FAQ/944faq09.html
And now after reading that, the car for the past 6 months engages the clutch very rougly, so im thinking that that rubber center inside the friction disk was giving the whole time. Any thoughts? _________________ There are 10 people in the world, those who understand binary and those who dont.

Sounds like 2, maybe 3 problems at the same time. 1 (or 1 & 2) - the rubber center of the clutch has come apart and/or the throw-out bearing's bad (actually, there's a third possibility that the pilot bearing's shot). Any or all of these can cause excessive vibration that in turn will affect the hydraulic clutch, especially if its' seals in the master and/or slave cylinder are also worn. Worn seals will vibrate along with the source of the vibration, allowing hydraulic fluid to slip by, clucth pedal goes to the floor, etc.
Most likely, it's time for a complete clutch job and master+slave cylinder replacement or rebuild. You may be able to save quite a bit of money by using a Ford Bronco II clutch disk instead of the big money OE version - but need to verify that it wouldn't interfere with the flywheel bolts (it can be used on a 931 - just not sure about the 944/924S). _________________ "..it's made in Germany. yea, thats what i was thinking. The clutch is at pelican parts for 335, although the guy whose working on it, a close friend, may be able to get a performance clutch for about the same price or a bit more. The slave cylinder has already been replaced but since he'll be in there i might have him go ahead and replace the master as well. _________________ There are 10 people in the world, those who understand binary and those who dont.
